Time To Register for the Women's Retreat!

Ladies, it's time to register for our 2016 Women's Retreat. We'll gather at Montserrat Retreat House around 5 p.m. on Friday, October 14 and spend the weekend together, breaking after lunch on Sunday, October 16. Our topic is Spiritual Friendship, and we'll focus on our connection with one another, with our parish, and with Jesus Christ. There will be times for relaxation, silence, celebration, and growth.

Registration forms will be available Sunday in the Parish Hall and are also available in the church office. If you would prefer to receive a registration form by email, contact Teresa Forrester or Mother Rebecca.
Backpack and School Supply Drive

school supplies School is starting soon. Please help our Karen kids start school equipped to learn. Last year, Drew Blalock's leadership and your generosity made it possible for our Karen kids to start school well dressed and prepared for school. This year, we will be holding a backpack and school supply drive. Come to the parish hall after church on Sunday to find out how you can contribute, or call Ginny at 214-906-7683.

Hospitality - Learning to Invite

At St. James, we are focused on hospitality to guests through three essentials: invite, welcome, and connect. Inviting others to church seems hard for everyone - we feel awkward and vulnerable. Together, we're committed to overcoming our hesitation and inviting others to join our family.

The Diocese of Dallas is here to help! Ambassadors Awake is a half-day workshop designed to equip us to be more invitational. Please plan to attend this important workshop on Saturday, July 30 from 9:00 am - 12:30 pm at St. John's Episcopal Church, 848 Harter Road in Dallas. You can register by e-mailing [email protected]
or by calling the Diocese at 214-826-8310.

Announcing A New Family Service!

St. James is starting a new service!  This Family Service will follow the same basic liturgy familiar to all Episcopalians, centered around The Book of Common Prayer. Each week, we will gather with music, listen to God's word, pray for our world, and share communion together.  Within this framework, the Family Service will be shorter, include fewer readings, and offer interactive sermons. Parents and children will be encouraged to participate as greeters, ushers, acolytes, and other worship leaders.

Join us as we begin a new way to worship together.

Did You Miss The Hospitality Meetings?

At St. James, we are resurrection people who aspire to witness to the Good News of Jesus Christ to one another and our community.

We are asking every member  of St. James to attend a Hospitality Meeting where we'll learn about how to Invite , Welcome , and Connect  others with our church family. If you missed our July meetings, please plan to attend our August meeting.

Time to Recycle Our Aluminum Cans

Henry Mankhokwe has been a long-time minister to his people in Malawi, Africa, leading Happenings for youth and running drug, alcohol, and AIDS education programs.  Mankhokwe has recently lost his job and, following a diagnosis of glaucoma, he's going blind. Still, he is determined to serve his community. St. James is determined to make a difference for Mankhokwe. We will once again collect aluminum cans in the black garbage can behind the bushes at the south end of the Sanctuary. Please see Deacon Roger if you have questions.

Sermon & Education Recordings

Please also consider sharing sermons or classes that are particularly useful to you with friends and family who might not attend St. James (or any other church). We hope these resources might draw others into fellowship with us at St. James.

For sermons, visit the Sermons page on our website. For adult education classes, check out our SoundCloud stream.

Do You Have A Prayer Request?

Prayer requests
St. James is a community characterized by prayer. Please share your prayer concerns with us: it is our joy to lift up your prayer concerns to the Lord just as we lift up our own. We welcome you to bring these concerns to our clergy or the church office or you can share them with us on a prayer request form (located in the entry to the Church) or through our website under the heading "Connect."

James 5:13-14 Are any among you suffering? You should pray... Are any among you sick? You should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord.
