From watching the political conventions in Cleveland and Philadelphia, to taking in all that the annual Yankee Homecoming celebration brings to our great neck of the woods, to the start of the Olympics in Rio! It doesn't get any better than this!

By Terry Thompson -- As locals, we all have various opinions of Yankee Homecoming. Visitors rush to our gorgeous city, traffic comes to a crawl, and parking spaces are hard to come by. With all this said... This 9-day festival has so much to offer for all. Residents - leave your cars at home and enjoy a stroll to the various activities. Employees - once you get to work; leave your cars parked and get out for that lunch break, and take it all in or stay late and take in the city at night.

Some of my fondest memories as a child are when my father would take me to these events. It became a tradition to meet up with extended family, kick back and just have some fun. I continued this tradition with my children, and now grown; we still meet for some of our favorites.

So, take some time to see what is happening in your backyard. You may be surprised.
