While it may bring us both joy and sorrow, we know that God's Holy Spirit is at work in our midst. Our director of youth ministries, Kate Rhodes, has accepted a position as youth coordinator with The House of the Carpenter in Wheeling, West Virginia.
The House of the Carpenter is a mission project affiliated with the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Its purpose is to care for people in need. The project serves people throughout the Upper Ohio Valley on both sides of the Ohio River.
Kate joined the Reveille staff as the assistant director of youth ministries on September 1, 2013. In October of last year she became director of youth ministries. The staff and congregation have watched Kate grow into a ministry leader during her time at Reveille. The Holy Spirit is indeed at work at Reveille, developing disciples like Kate, who go out into the world to do God's work.
While Kate looks forward to following God's call to serve youth in the Wheeling community, she affirms Reveille for the growth and transformation she has experienced while in ministry here.
"Even though I am excited to embark on this new and exciting journey I will miss being here with the people of Reveille, especially the youth," said Kate. "This amazing congregation has shown me so much love and support in my time here and I have grown exponentially because of my time in ministry here. I am beyond thankful for the time I have been blessed to share with the people of Reveille and the beautiful city of Richmond."
Kate will be preaching tonight in the chapel. Worship begins at 6:45 pm and she will be in mission with our Costa Rica team next week. Her last day at Reveille will be August 25.
Please know that the Staff-Parish Relations Committee is already working to secure Kate's replacement, and we ask for your prayers during this time of transition. We also ask that you keep Kate in your prayers as she prepares for and begins this new chapter in her life.
