 Information Sessions

The Foundation is holding three information sessions for organizations interested in submitting an application for the 2016 Community Grants Cycle. It is a brief 1-hour overview of the application process and an opportunity to network and and ask any questions about the cycle and revised guidelines. The sessions will be held at the GWCF office and program staff will be on hand to answer questions.

Information Session Dates/Times:
  • Wednesday, July 27 at 4PM
  • Wednesday, August 3 at 9AM
  • Tuesday, August 9 at 4PM

After a year-long "learning tour" - exploring the issues and speaking with leaders as well as those who use the services - our Community Grants Committee had early this year announced a revised set of priorities for 2016 and a streamlined granting process.  With a focus on five areas of interest - civic/cultural/natural environment, early childhood wellbeing, youth development, economic security, and healthy communities - we are pleased to announce the opening of our annual community grants cycle with a deadline of September 15.

Several fundamental values inform GWCF's grant making: access to opportunity, respect for diversity, and sustainable institutions. With these in mind, we are confident that a healthy and vibrant community can be realized.

a3The Foundation Visits The Canal District

This month, GWCF paid a visit to the Canal  District Alliance - Historic Wagon Tour during an Outreach & Education visit. Corporators and donors spent the first half of the visit asking questions and learning about the program from South High School Seniors and Juniors who are trained interpreters that tell the farm to factory story of the Industrial Revolution and the immigrants that made it happen.

Later those who attended the visit were invited to join one of the Historic Wagon Tours to learn more about the organization, and see how they are making a difference in the community. This year, GWCF  granted $2,000 in support of the teen-lead summer education tours.

This year, Music Worcester started the  Music Worcester Education Fund at GWCF. The establishment of this fund will ensure that the organization's five educational and outreach programs around Central Massachusetts have partially secured funding for years to come.

From the Festival Singers program at South High Community School with The Worcester Chorus of Music Worcester, to the annual residencies and master classes at area public schools with visiting headline artists these programs bring invaluable instruction, enjoyment, training, and life lessons to students of all ages throughout greater Worcester.

As Music Worcester seeks to form more partnerships with area elementary, middle, and high schools, the organization also seeks to add significantly to this new Music Worcester Education Fund. Full details on all of Music Worcester's educational activities and programs may be found on  WWW.MUSICWORCESTER.ORG under the "community engagement" tab.
