Verse For The Week: "Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."  Luke  12:15

PASTOR'S MESSAGE

Dear friends in Christ.

In  Sunday's Gospel reading Jesus warns us to take care and guard our hearts against all kinds of covetousness.  Coveting is the sinful desire to take for our own benefit anything that belongs to our neighbor.  The way of covetousness can bring with it envy, greed, dissatisfaction toward others for what they have and an unthankful heart toward God for what he has given.  It is through our Lord Jesus himself, that we are forgiven of our sins of covetousness.  By His grace given in Holy Baptism, the Holy Spirit gives us a new spirit that gratefully acknowledges by faith that it is God who daily and richly provides all we need for this body and life, food, shelter, good jobs, health and success, and much more.  May the Lord grant us a spirit of godliness, with contentment.

BOOKS, ANYONE?

TLO has been donated 1,500 books from History Bound, a local online antique book seller.  Many of these books have already been set aside and will be added to the TLO Church Library.  The remaining  books on the tables in the Conference Room are now available for anyone who would like them.  Over the next two weeks, you are invited to take any books that you choose for your personal use or to give away to your friends at no cost.  Any friends of TLO are also invited to come and take books for personal use.  There is no limit to the number of books that you can have.  We would like to open up these free books to the community.  If you would be willing to oversee the Conference Room for the public, please contact the Church Office.  Once again, we thank George Sonnen, from History Bound, for the donation of these books.

UPWARD SPORTS THIS WEEK
Upward Sports Basketball camp has focused on the Bible verse Ephesians 3:1, "Be imitators of God, as dearly loved Children."  As Children of God, dearly loved, God has made us and given each one of us unique gifts and talents to be used for His glory.  This week young athletes have been growing mentally, physically, spiritually and athletically through sports.

Thank you to Amelia Volkert, Ana Estrada, Ryan Kroonblawd, Caden Rudoll, Collin Rudoll, Xander Caraballo, Caleb Streich, Mitchel Zenda-Johnson and Aaron Kolb for serving this week as camp coaches and staff.
