Are you ALL IN? A social media challenge
The ALL IN Challenge: The Trojan Nation is full of energy with the start of our new school year. The smiling faces of students, teachers, parents, and support personnel make up our amazing community: A community that is ALL IN! So, how ALL IN are you?
Take a video of yourself, your family, your club/athletic organization, or group of friends demonstrating how ALL IN you really are. Make sure your videos demonstrate your Trojan spirit and pride while also respecting safety. The band camp video above will give you an idea of what we mean.
Once finished, upload your video to Facebook, tag us, and tag five of your friends, asking them to create an ALL IN video. Use the hashtag #trojansallin. We will be promoting this competition throughout the year and will share top posts on our media outlets! So, come on, Trojan Nation! Show us that you're ALL IN!

You can help with
traffic congestion

It's the start of a new school year. There is something we all experience for the first couple of weeks - traffic!

Below are reminders to help alleviate as much congestion as possible:

* If you live in the city, have your children ride the bus. BUT FIRST, contact your school to have your child added to the bus route rosters.

* Consider carpooling.

* If traveling only to Carrollton High School, approach CHS from Highway 27 and Trojan Drive instead of Ben Scott Boulevard.

* If traveling only to Carrollton Middle School and/or the back side of Carrollton Elementary School, enter Tom Reeve Drive via Hay's Mill Road.

* If when traveling south on Ben Scott Boulevard to the CES pick-up area, please drive into the stadium's visitors stands parking lot if the road is full. This will serve as a traffic overflow area to keep the main lanes clear for through traffic.

* If you approach CMS from the bypass during drop-off and pick-up times, go to Hay's Mill Road, then turn right onto Tom Reeve Drive to get to the CMS pick-up area.

Safety reminders

* Please pick up/drop off your child through the car riders line instead of parking and walking up to the school.

* At CES, no parking is allowed in the left lane at ANY TIME as this is designated for emergency traffic flow only.

It usually takes a couple of weeks for the traffic flow to stabilize. We greatly appreciate your assistance and understanding.

Water Bill Roundup
supports our schools

Those of you who have been in the Carrollton area for quite a while may remember when the City of Carrollton's Water Department rounded up water bills with proceeds supporting the Carrollton City Schools Education Foundation.

Well, It's back! Here is a link to the city's press release about the program to familiarize the rest of you about how this generous community effort benefits our schools. Note that this program is for City of Carrollton water customers only; other county water service areas are not participating.

It is very easy to sign up through this link. Thank you in advance for supporting Carrollton City Schools!
ONE FAVORITE TEACHER
CONGRATULATIONS to CES prekindergarten teacher Tamara Wooten who won $1,500 for her classroom needs at Southwire's Back to School event. Her student, Khloe Livingston, entered Ms. Wooten's name in the "My Favorite Teacher" drawing sponsored by West Georgia Tech.
Employees welcomed back with fun and food
From left, Kasey Austin, Steve Martin, Drew Ebensberger, Nakeshia Duncan, Donna Derbecker, Krystal Kendall and Ann Jones model T-shirts distributed to every employee.
Carrollton Board of Education members served employees boxed lunches following the convocation. Prizes were given away during the meal through a drawing.
One of the nice things about being a smaller school district is that ALL employees are invited to participate in the yearly kick-off celebration to get everyone excited about the start of a new school year. Dr. Mark Albertus, the district's new superintendent, introduced this year's theme as "ALL IN," encouraging employees to give their all to the benefit of our students, our schools and our community.

A highlight of the Aug. 2 program was the announcement that schools will now have Casual Fridays, including permission to wear blue jeans and college spirit wear in addition to Trojan spirit wear with the idea that the clothing will open a conversation with students about the importance of college through sharing their own experiences.
