The 19th Annual Spring Concert of the Fairfield County Children's Choir will take place on Saturday, May 10 at 7:00 PM at Fairfield Warde High School (755 Melville Avenue, Fairfield). Our program has a number of themes running throughout, with a primary focus on the music of the "Great American Songbook." The Great American Songbook is a term used to denote the canon of the most important and influential American popular songs of the 20th century - principally from Broadway and Hollywood musicals - that told the American story. It was completely original in some respects, but deeply rooted and strongly influenced by the musical form known as jazz and was influenced by its predecessors, ragtime and blues. This music of the 20th century is known and widely recognized around the world as a truly American invention and cultural legacy. This promises to be a highly enjoyable evening of classics such as I Got Rhythm, Summertime, Route 66, Blue Skies, St. Louis Blues, Opus One, Bye Bye Blackbird, God Bless America and It's Only a Paper Moon.  Other themes you will hear in our program include: Irish folk song arrangements by Benjamin Britten; the music of Rollo Dilworth, a major composer, arranger and conductor who will be the guest artist for our 2016 Spring Concert; the music of Canadian songwriter Allister MacGillivray; the classic music of George Gershwin and Irving Berlin; other selections of great folk and classical repertoire.  Read More

FCCC Seniors!

null

We say a fond farewell to all of our graduating seniors. Best wishes to: Lilly Boyd, Sofia Bramante, Melissa DiMaio, Celina Hibbert, Cacey Longley, Erin McCurley, Sarah Mickool, Allison Nascimento, Katie Schreiner, Madeleine Tommins, Amanda Violone, Sarah von Euler, and Sofie Wall. They have given so much of their talents and time to our choir! In addition, we congratulate eight of these seniors who will
receive our Choral Scholar Award. This is given to choristers who have been members of the FCCC for the maximum term of nine years. We are so happy that these seniors 'found us' way back in 2003 as they finished third grade!! They have spent, as one of them recently pointed out, "half of their lives with the FCCC." They are Lilly Boyd, Sofia Bramante, Celina Hibbert, Sarah Mickool, Allison Nascimento, Katie Schreiner, Sarah von Euler, and Sofie Wall. We will miss them all very much!!

Marge Duzy Recognized with High Notes Award

Marge Duzy, an original FCCC Board member, has retired after eighteen years of service to the FCCC (and twenty-five years in the Fairfield Public Schools). To honor her for the many ways she has fostered the development of the choir, she will receive the FCCC High Notes Award at our Spring Concert. We thank her for all she has done and hope that we will still see her at many of our concerts, smiling and bringing joy to everyone!

Dear Jon,

Happy New Year!

I have had a note in my head for a few months now and felt it important to express just how grateful we are to you and to FCCC. Graciela has adored her first few months in Concert Choir.  As we drive home each Wednesday evening I am stunned by how energized she emerges from the practice, filled with tales and demonstrations for me on our ride home. The connection to the music, and the thrill of being a voice in this amazing choir, carries her joy and commitment. She has remarked on more than one occasion, "I'm not sure what I'd be feeling if I didn't have FCCC and Jon and Kevin teaching me."  Wow.

Thank you so much for everything you do.  I was able to witness the rigor of last Wednesday night's rehearsal for a bit.  I say "rigor" since I watched the work you were all doing but at the same time the joy that went along with that work.

I just wanted to express my appreciation.

With thanks,

June Presslaff
