Start of School
Welcome back! The school year begins with Orientation Day on Thursday, August 11th.
On Friday, August 12th, we will have a RAMS schedule with all of the students reporting to their 2nd period classroom at 8 AM. Then the students will attend an all-school Mass, go to each of their classes to meet their teachers, and then end the day with a mini-rally in the gym. Students will be dismissed at 1:35 PM.

Link Crew
"Link Crew" is a nationally recognized mentoring program for freshman students. The Garces Link Crew is comprised of junior and senior students who are trained to lead and mentor freshman in individual and small group settings.
The Garces
Link Crew members held their first meeting on Thursday, August 4th, to begin preparing to welcome our freshmen students by planning an exciting, informative, and fun "Freshmen Orientation."
The moderator of Link Crew is Mrs. Poochigian and she is assisted by Ms. Bischoff and Mrs. Limi.

CAPK Community Service
On Saturday, July 16th, over 40 Garces football players volunteered to help distribute over 13,000 pounds of food to over 500 families at a CAPK Food Bank food distribution. They did a great job and we are very proud to see them giving back to the community and demonstrating kindness to others. A big thank you to Garces parent, and the executive director of CAPK, Jeremy Tobias, for providing this wonderful opportunity for our students.

Steubenville San Diego
is a Catholic weekend conference for teens that is a transformational experience! Evangelistic in nature, authentically Catholic, Steubenville San Diego is a weekend filled with great speakers, engaging music, reverent Mass and prayer, and tremendous fellowship. The

Congratulations to Garces Rams Jack Tobias, Joe Tobias and Jake Moody on being selected to play for the Kern County Baseball All-Star Team! They played for the Grey Team on June 11th and won!

Sam Tobias Field
Sam Tobias Field has served us well but was in serious need of new sod. Thanks to a generous benefactor, the hard work of several volunteers, and our hard working maintenance staff, we were able to remove the old turf, recrown the field, and lay new athletic stadium sod.

New Practice Field
We have taken the space on the southwest side of the campus and turned it into a space for PE classes and a practice field for use by several of our sports teams whose practice times overlapped during their seasons - football, girls soccer, boys soccer, softball, and baseball. To do so, we had to eliminate the JV softball diamond. From now on, the JV and the Varsity teams will share the Varsity softball field. The new space is awesome and will reduce the wear and tear on Sam Tobias Field.

Resurfaced Quad
The Quad was in dire need of resurfacing and on August 4th, we brought in a crew, patched the holes, and resurfaced the entire quad area for the students. We look forward to having them back playing four square next week!

Library Remodel
The Garces Library is under construction! The computers, books, tables, chairs, shelves are gone! More details about the renovation to come next week.

Dear Garces Parents -
Welcome back! I hope you and your families had a wonderful and blessed summer. Let me start by thanking you for entrusting your child's high school education to our school. It is our honor and pleasure to have your student on our campus. We have been busy over the summer getting everything ready for the upcoming school year. We have hired some great new faculty members, added a few new courses, upgraded some of our technology, and our classrooms are ready for our students. We have a new cafeteria vendor and have a broader array of food to offer the students. Our school theme this year is "The Year of Faith" and we will continue to offer Mass every Wednesday for the entire school and have added a retreat for every class. Our "household" program has taken off and will have a special household Mass on the evening of August 22nd. We have changed out the sod on Sam Tobias Field to an "athletic sod" that will stand up to the wear and tear of football and soccer seasons; added a new practice field to accommodate our teams who need the room to properly prepare before and during their seasons of sport; resurfaced the quad, and have begun a remodel of the school library so that it becomes an interactive media and resource center for our students and faculty. On Wednesday, August 17th we will celebrate a Family Mass and Picnic on our campus and we hope to see you there. Back to School Night is August 31st and you will have an opportunity to visit every classroom and hear from every teacher on your student's schedule. Once your classroom visits are over, you are invited to stay for our Back to School Party at the Garces Pool. As always, my door is open to you if you have any questions, or ideas on how we can make our school even better.

All standard uniform and formal day shirts and blouses must be purchased from the Garces Student Store
This year, we asking for all of the uniform shirts/tops worn by our students to be purchased through the Garces Student Store. This applies to the standard dress days and the formal dress day. If you need to purchase a shirt, please contact
Mr. Blaine Geissel.
Uniforms are approved by Assistant Principal of Student Affairs. On standard dress days, students will still be allowed to wear club and athletic polo shirts that have been approved by the Assistant Principal of Academic Affairs and ordered through the Garces Student Store.
