With the consultation and support of Standing Committee over the past four months, a call has been issued for Canon Shawn Wamsley to work in the Diocesan Office beginning on August 22, 2016.

He will be charged with Evangelism, Operations, Resources and Initiatives. Canon Wamsley most recently served at the Cathedral Church of St. John in Albuquerque, NM and will be filling the Canon's position held by the Rev. Lucy Amerman, former Canon to the Ordinary for Pastoral Services, who retired on August 1, 2016.

With a renewed emphasis on supporting ministries of the clergy, laity and churches of the Diocese, Canon Wamsley will work in cooperation with the Rev. Nancy James Deming, Canon to the Ordinary for Congregational Care and Development. Through a respectful, constructive and energetic approach, and guided by the mission of the Diocese, they will provide support, leadership, management counseling, and visions for our future.

As
Canon to the Ordinary for Evangelism and Administration, Canon Wamsley will serve as the Bishop's Chief of Staff and will work in close consultation with the Bishop. H is responsibilities for evangelism, operations, resources, and initiatives will provide opportunities to work closely with clergy and diocesan leadership to create new and engaging ways to invigorate our life as a community of faith.

Canon Wamsley said,
"I am humbled and overjoyed to accept Bishop Gutierrez's call to serve in the "Come and See" diocese, the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania. During a recent visit to Philadelphia for the consecration weekend, my wife, Miriam, and I were able to spend 5 days experiencing the city and some of the surrounding communities. We had opportunity to meet and worship with many of you. Your warmth of welcome and loving hospitality were a blessing. We can hardly wait to be with you all."

"Miriam and our three children are excited for the adventure of moving to the East. I am eager to begin ministry with Bishop Gutierrez and the diocesan staff, a ministry dedicated to supporting the churches, laity and clergy who so faithfully labor to build the Kingdom of Heaven. I ask for your prayers for my family and me in this transition, and offer my own prayers on your behalf that you will know the peace of Christ, will be energized by the Holy Spirit, and encouraged in your ministry to our communities."

We welcome him as the newest member of our diocesan staff and hold him in prayer as he embarks on a new chapter in his life and the life of the Diocese.
