From the Desk of
Senator  Ed Harbison

Thank you for subscribing to my monthly updates! Although we are considered "part-time" legislators, the truth is, we never stop working. Year round we are studying issues non-stop in preparation for the next session cycle.

Last update, I gave you information pertaining to study committees and listening sessions. In an effort to continue forward progress in education, House Committee Education Chairman, Brooks Coleman is holding a series of "listening sessions" around the state. These sessions are a great opportunity for teachers and parents to address concerns, while actively working on improving our educational systems. The next listening session is scheduled for August 16th in Tifton, GA and I encourage you to attend.

Most of you may not realize that the month of July is one of the most hectic months of the year for Georgia government. Not only is the state gearing up for the start of a new fiscal year, it is also when most laws, passed during session, go into effect.  Below you will find a quick overview of major issues that became law July 1st.

As always, thank you for your support and allowing me the opportunity to serve our district and state. If you need anything, please contact me anytime. God bless you my friends!
New Laws Take Effect

Issues passed during the 2016 session are now officially in Georgia code! Need a reminder of majors legislation?

I was pleased to speak on behalf of Elaine Gillespie, who represents Congressman Sanford Bishop, at the Class of 1971 Monument in Buena Vista, GA.
