with
Dr. N. D. B. Connolly

The Delaware Humanities Forum will hold the 2016 Joseph P. del Tufo Annual Lecture with Dr. Nathan D. B. Connolly at 6:30p.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Arsht Hall, 2700 Pennsylvania Avenue in Wilmington, Delaware. Dr. Connolly will deliver his lecture "Rethinking Jim Crow Segregation".

Dr. Connolly is the Herbert Baxter Adams Associate Professor or History at Johns Hopkins University. His research considers racism and the American presidency, capitalism, racial segregation, West Indian immigration to the United States, and the relationship between community building and real estate development. Raised in South Florida, he is the author of A World More Concrete: Real Estate and the Remaking of Jim Crow South Florida (2014), winner of the OAH Liberty Legacy Foundation Award. In addition to teaching, writing, and speaking widely to journalists as well as to the public, Connolly serves on the executive board of the Urban History Association. In 2009 he won the Arthur Fondiler Award for Best Dissertation, and in 2010 he received the Institute for the Humanities' "Emerging Scholars Prize" at the University of Michigan.

Dr. Connolly’s appearance was arranged by the Organization of American Historians Distinguished Lectureship Program.

The lecture is free to the public, but registration is required. A ticketed reception will immediately follow the lecture.
