Road Work on and around Winston Churchill Drive
There are several construction projects happening on and around Winston Churchill Rd. Bridge rehabilitation is occurring on the Winston Churchill overpass. Due to the scope of this work, there are delays and nightly lane closures, each direction, from 9 pm until 5:30 am. The Region of Peel is also resurfacing Winston Churchill Drive this summer. This work will continue until October, weather permitting. For more information, please visit my website: https://karenras.ca/news/page/2/
Yard Waste Collection
Starting July 4, yard waste will be collected every 2 weeks, falling on the same week as your recycling collection.

A bag used for yard waste collection must:
  • Be specifically designed for yard waste - a Kraft brown paper bag that's durable enough to support a weight of 20 kg (44 lbs) when lifted, without tearing.
  • Have enough room at the top to be securely closed when filled.
  • Be smaller than 66 cm (26 in) wide/90 cm (35 in) high.

Curbside Collection of Large Appliances Ends in Peel Region
As of June 30, 2016, the Region of Peel will no longer collect large appliances from the curb.

Due to low uptake of the service, coupled with the fact that there are charitable and private organizations picking up appliances, and an ongoing challenge to complete the pick up before scrap metal collectors, it was no longer necessary for the Region to continue to pick up large appliances from the curb.

Appliances that will no longer be accepted at the curb for pick up include items like refrigerators, stoves, iceboxes and freezers, furnaces and dehumidifiers, hot water tanks and metal bath tubs.

For a full list of appliances please visit Peel Waste

Playing in the Sand at
Sandgate Park
I recently had the privilege to visit Sandgate Park and check out the many Tonka Trucks that have been put there by local residents.

One such resident, Robert (pictured in the photo), mentioned that he and a few of his neighbours have put out these trucks for the local kids to enjoy. The kids at the Elmcrest School love playing with the toys every recess and ensure they neatly stack them up for the next group to enjoy.

Thank you to those residents on Lockhart Road that help bring a smile to a child’s face and I hope they will always be big kids at heart!
