The Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Breakfast
The breakfast will be at 8:30 am at the Vicksburg Convention Center, 1600 Mulberry Street. Myrlie Evers-Williams will be the featured speaker. Alpha Phi Alpha is the sponsor for this event. The event is open to the public and admission is $20. For more information, call 601-630-2929.

The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Vicksburg City Auditorium, 901 Monroe Street. For more information call 601-636-4511

Saturday, January 16 at 8:30am
The 8th Annual Chill in the Hills 10K run, 5K walk and 1 mile fun run through downtown Vicksburg starts at Guaranty Bank & Trust, 1900 Cherry Street. The 10K run begins at 8:30 am with the 5K walk following at 8:35 am. The 1 mile fun run will begin immediately following the conclusion of the run and walk races.

In support of Dr. King's legacy of service to others, volunteers are asked to meet at the M.L.K's Monument (intersection of M.L.K & 1st North) at 1:00 pm on Monday January 18, 2016 to clean debris, remove litter and beautify Martin Luther King Blvd. For more info contact Angela Turner or Gertrude Young at (601)634-4528. This is a family friendly event. Open to the public.

Gras Parade

The Vicksburg Main Street Program is looking for "Krewes" who wish to participate in Downtown Vicksburg's 15th Annual Mardi Gras Parade.  The parade will be held Saturday, February 6th, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. in downtown Vicksburg. 
 
The parade begins at Washington and Belmont streets and will travel North on Washington Street to Jackson Street.

Vicksburg's Carnaval de Mardi Gras

Benefitting the Vicksburg Foundation for Historic Preservation It's the Vicksburg's Carnaval de Mardi Gras & Gumbo Cook-off.  A festival at the S outhern Cultural Heritage Center on the corner of Cherry and Crawford Streets. The event includes a Cajun Gumbo Cook-off, block party, indoor live music, dancing, children's activities and much more!
