Whitehead brilliantly recreates the unique terrors of black life in pre-Civil War America. The Underground Railroad is at once a kinetic adventure tale of one woman's ferocious will to escape the horrors of bondage and a shattering, powerful meditation on the history we all share. This is Oprah' Book Club 2016 Selection. Definitely worth putting on hold and waiting for.

A unique view of the south in the 1950s through the eyes of half sisters - one white, one black. They take a journey together armed with dreams and hopes of an inheritance.
