From the director... I often refer to the library as a major downtown anchor business. An anchor business is defined as one that attracts customers and other businesses to an area as well as repeat visitation on a regular basis. With over 9700 library customers, and an addition of 30-50 new members in any given month, I would say that we can comfortably claim this title. Libraries are not great at tooting their own horn but it's important to recognize their distinct presence and influence on the quality of life quotient, the service and assistance we provide our members, as well as our small business community, and the personal support we offer to those seeking job and career assistance.
At last month's Chamber of Commerce meeting, the Cornwall Public Library had the honor of being the member spotlight and I relished the opportunity to share our offerings to those who may not necessarily know what the library of today has to offer. With seven days of service available to our community - we offer fax, copying, WiFi, color printing, scanning, in addition to mobile print services from any of your devices. We have computers, laptops and tablets available for public use, along with expert research assistance from trained library staff, exam proctoring and Notary Public service at no cost. For those looking to find work, enhance their resume and skills, or advance in their field - we offer free, in-person job counseling by appointment, and online assistance using our plethora of career and testing web resources such as JobNOW career help, Glassdoor Jobs & Recruitment, NYS Civil Service Testing and Financial industry reports. For more information, go to www.cornwallpubliclibrary.org and click on Resources at the top. Need help? Call us: 845-534-8282.
