BREAKING NEWS - In a Historic Board Vote, NBBQA is Now the National Barbecue & Grilling Association

A Message from NBBQA President Linda Orrison

A year ago, NBBQA set a course, which would enable us to preserve the past while at the same time fueling the future of the industry. We've been working to wrap our arms around the entire industry with an attitude of inclusivity and a spirit of involvement.

We are working hard to serve the needs of every segment along the industry spectrum, from the backyard to the boardroom. For many years, every aspect of the barbecue business has shared a single "runway" within NBBQA, which has impaired our ability to deliver focused value to each vital membership audience. To change that, our driving mentality is to create and cultivate dedicated "runways" for each industry segment to grow and thrive, which has included the addition of special interest group (SIG) communities as well as the creation of focused membership category publications and online networking groups.

The biggest piece of this puzzle has been to define the role of grilling within NBBQA. Grilling represents the critical mass of live fire cooking in America and the "gateway" to low-and-slow. America's backyards represent the business "incubator" for the industry and grilling is a vitally important component to the past, the present and the future of our industry.

Recently, the NBBQA Board of Directors made history by voting to change the name and expand the focus of our association to National Barbecue & Grilling Association. We look forward to the exciting road ahead!
