New Tools Now Available to Promote Your Events
by Denise Curtis community calendar
The Eastern Shore Chamber is excited to announce a major expansion to our  Community Calendar. The Chamber has made it our mission to promote business while connecting communities, and we hope our upgraded community calendar will do both.

As a member of the Eastern Shore Chamber, you can log in to your ChamberMaster account, and create an online landing page for the events you want to promote. You will be able to add all the critical information the community would need to know, an event image, a Youtube video, a photo gallery, a map and link to more information or your website. Check out this Sample Event to see the tools available.

We understand that quality of life here is one main reason many of you have decided to make the Eastern Shore home. That means you're also looking for fun events throughout the year and we want to be your one-stop-shop for information about those events. So, we didn't want to limit the community calendar. That's why any community organization can submit a basic event listing by simply clicking the " Submit New Event" button, right there on the calendar.

These pages also have some pretty cool features that will help you plan your weekend. You can set an email reminder with the event information, print it out, add it directly to your Outlook or iCal calendar, text the event to a friend or share it on your favorite social networks.

Another great feature we are excited to finally be able to offer is online registration for our popular Chamber events. We hope this will make it much easier for our members to RSVP for workshops, Eggs N' Issues and other big events.

This initiative has been several months in the making. It will be a vital tool for residents and tourists alike and a great way for you to attract more visitors to your events. We hope you'll take full advantage of it!

Chamber to Offer Voter Guide for Municipal Election
The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs Committee has been busy ahead of the municipal elections, August 23. We want to encourage each and every one of our members to Get Out and Vote!

"This is your opportunity to have your voice heard in local government and decide on who will be making those important decisions that impact the entire community," said Interim Executive Director Christina Hellmich.

"It's not only important to vote, but be an informed voter. That's why we are making voter guides available to our members so when they head to the polls, they can make an educated choice," said Eric Nager, Chairman of the Governmental Affairs Committee.

Our Governmental Affairs Committee is working right now to get answers to important business-related issues facing our cities on the Eastern Shore. We are compiling responses from each mayoral and city council candidate in a voter guide produced specifically for our membership.

"These guides are a true value to Chamber membership. We've done all the research and are putting these guides directly in our members' hands, so they can feel confident in their vote, come election day," said Nager.

Expect to see the Voter Guides within the coming week and also be on the lookout for election day reminders on our social media sites. We'd love for you to use the graphics we produce to help us get the word out to your friends and family about how important it is to VOTE.

Join us at the polls, August 23.

Jubilee Festival

We are now less than two months away from the 28th Annual Jubilee Festival in Olde Towne Daphne and we would love to see you and your family at this wonderful Chamber and community event. The Jubilee Festival is a fun and laid-back event where you and your family can enjoy the arts.  By the end of September, there is usually a hint of fall in the air, so perusing the arts in Olde Towne is pleasant for everyone.  We can't think of a better way to kick off fall or explore this part of the Eastern Shore.  The Jubilee Festival is an invitation for the community to enjoy some great talent and local entertainment, while fostering community camaraderie.  Local dance companies and theater groups perform for the crowds and the smell of cotton candy fills the air.

Kids Art in Centennial Park is always a hit.  Generations of children have their handprints on the perimeter fence.  Every child makes a fish print or wooden block sculpture.  Instilling a love of art in children of all ages is one of the great accomplishments of the Kids Art Park as well as the Jubilee Festival.  There is an activity for every child that walks through the gates of Centennial Park.

This is truly a complete family experience that celebrates the arts, local entertainment and the City of Daphne.  Whether you're a city official, sponsor, patron or volunteer, this festival is a demonstration of community togetherness.

As a Chamber member, there is one way you can help as we promote this festival. Please take the time to share the Jubilee Festival's event page on facebook with your friends and invite them to come explore beautiful Downtown Daphne. Many of our local shops and restaurants benefit when visitors make a point to visit the Eastern Shore.

The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals teamed up with United Way of Baldwin County's Young Leaders Society to put on an incredible 2nd Annual Pencils & Glue for Bingo & Brew, collecting school supplies for the Rotary Youth Club.

Supporters filled the Fairhope Brewing Company and helped us raise $4,000 and 5 overflowing boxes full of supplies for these students for the upcoming school year. Daphne Mayor Dane Haygood, Fairhope Mayor Tim Kant, Spanish Fort Mayor Mike McMillan, Commissioner Tucker Dorsey, Commissioner Chris Elliott, Fairhope Councilman Kevin Boone and BCBE member Cecil Christenberry served as celebrity bingo callers.
