CFE Researchers Featured in Medical Education Podcast Series

Justin Sewell, MD, MPH; Christy Boscardin, PhD; John Young, MD; Olle ten Cate, PhD; and Patricia O'Sullivan, EdD. were featured this June in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada's Key Literature in Medical Education (KeyLIME) podcast series with their piece, "How to figure out if your learner's brain will explode while teaching them a procedure," addressing cognitive overload during procedural skills training. The paper explores the question, "can you teach too much?"

Reconnect, Reassess, and Revive

"Thanks for yesterday - it was terrific, and I now want to apply for TSP again," remarked Dr. Charlotte Wills, a former Teaching Scholar, following the Teaching Scholars reunion event held on June 28. Over 50 alums attended the half-day retreat, titled "Reconnect, Reassess, and Revive: A Teaching Scholars Alumni Event."

Essential Skills in Medical Education (ESME) Online Course Starts September 26
|
The AMEE ESME course is designed to meet the need for doctors, scientists, and others involved with teaching in the healthcare professions. The course is aimed at those new to teaching and teachers with years of experience who want updates on current best practice and greater understanding of teaching basic principles.
Those who complete the ESME Certificate in Medical Education obtain credits towards a number of Master's courses in medical education. The next ESME Online course starts on 26 September 2016.

Faculty and Staff Development in Technology Enhanced Education (TEE)
|
The TEE Innovations group offers training and consultations to support School of Medicine faculty and staff. Courses provide useful information on using online tools to engage learners; creating flipped learning experiences for courses; and using imagery to "wow" your lectures. Courses are taking place now until November.
