Beginning of the Year Transportation Information

We want to make sure everyone is aware of information about transportation prior to the beginning of the school year. We are in the process of finishing all of the bus routes for our students to ensure a smooth process for the beginning of the school year. Below is an important timeline of events:

August 12th- Deadline for parents of new students to have made address changes and registered students for transportation with the transportation department.

This includes residents who have changed addresses within the district. If you have moved within the district, please complete and turn in the registration form with appropriate documents listed here. You will also need to have a correct address with the transportation department on the form provided here.
IMPORTANT: If new students or students who have moved are NOT registered by August 12, transportation will not be provided until August 29th.

August 16th- Transportation schedules will be available. There are a number of ways you can pick these up from August 16th-20th.

Option 1- You will be able to go to www.swl.k12.oh.us to access the bus routes. You will need to select high school/middle school or elementary school and then enter your street name. You will then see the complete bus route with the bus number and pick-up locations and times on that route. This starts on August 16th.

Option 2- On August 17th-20th, personalized bus schedules will be available at the District booth at the Pataskala Street Fair starting at 5:00. You can stop by our booth to pick up the schedules or to ask any questions you might have.

Option 3- From 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. August 16th-20th, you can pick up a personalized copy of your individual student bus information at the Transportation Department 10653 Hazleton-Etna Road, Pataskala, OH 43062.

If you have not registered for transportation before August 12th, you will need to register by August 25th to begin receiving transportation by August 29th. After that, please plan to allow for 48 hours after receipt of a bus registration for services to begin.

Important Transportation Information

Below are important facts to know about transportation in order to make the first few days of school operate more successfully.

There is no information provided on bus drop off times. Times will vary for the first few weeks, but will become more consistent after that time.
Our elementary buildings are set up as "hubs". If you have students attending multiple elementary schools, all of your students will get on 1 bus and be transported to their elementary "hub". For some students, they attend school at their hub and they simply have to get off the bus and go inside the school. For students who take a shuttle bus to their actual school, the bus driver will note any student who needs to get on a shuttle bus, and those students will be escorted by faculty to their shuttle bus.
When elementary students get on the bus for the first day, they will be given a wrist band to put on their wrist with their bus number (and shuttle number if appropriate). We are asking that those tags remain on their wrists and for the entire first week of school.
If you lose your wristband, please see your bus driver or someone at your school.
The information on the bus routes give approximate times for pick-up at each stop. Please know that these will change for the first few weeks as students learn the routine.
We would appreciate it if you could please help us out by making sure street numbers are clearly visible on your house or mailbox.
Additionally, we would recommend clearly printing your student's name and school on their book bag and lunch in case they leave it on the bus.
