Did you know that birds mean business?  From the end of April to mid-May more than 90,000 tourists visit our area to take in the astounding migration patterns that occur in Northwest Ohio. This means that in a typically low tourism season, approximately 90,000 people are being exposed to our region and the wonderful assets and businesses it has to offer.
Advocacy Update: A Word on Small Business From Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor

Recently Lt. Governor Taylor announced at the Chamber's offices a new online resource called the "CSI Small Business Toolkit." The Toolkit was created with business owners in mind. The goal is to give the business community the tools it needs to quickly and effectively resolve regulatory issues.

Asked about her vision for the Toolkit and how it might impact Northwest Ohio businesses, she said, "We understand that innovation from our business community drives our state's economy and we will do what we can to get businesses the information they need to participate in the regulatory process."

Stephen Vasquez, Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Lt. Col. Scott "Coma" Schaupeter,180th Fighter Wing, were honored at the 2016 Toledo Air Show by the United States Army Golden Knights Parachute team with the "Golden Knights Baton Honor." 
Toledo City Council - 8/2/16
 
At its regular meeting scheduled for 4:00 p.m. today, Toledo City Council will likely vote on two resolutions that would each place a question on the November 8 general election ballot.

Resolution 282-16 would renew the City's three-quarter percent temporary income tax for a period of four years, beginning January 1, 2017. One-third of the proceeds would be allocated to police, fire and other safety services, one-third to the General Fund, and one-third to the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) fund. The City would still have the ability to transfer proceeds from the CIP portion of the funding to the General Fund. 

Resolution 258-16 would make a number of updates to the City Charter.
Ohio Sales Tax Holiday - August 5-7

Ohio will have a sales tax holiday from Friday, August 5, 2016 at 12:00 a.m. to Sunday, August 7, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. Specific items will be exempt from sales tax during this "holiday."
