Congressman McGovern Delivers 
100,000th Worcester Meal
McGovern delivers 100K  meal
US Congressman Jim McGovern joined us in celebrating the delivery of the 100,000th meal in Worcester. The milestone meal was delivered to Worcester resident, Irene McNeil, an 86-year-old woman who suffers from lung disease, among other illnesses, and struggles to shop or cook for herself.
 
"Thank you for all you have done for so many people, including my grandmother. On behalf of my family, we sincerely thank you," said Irene's granddaughter in a recent note to Community Servings.
 
Congressman McGovern is a leading voice in the fight against hunger. In 2013 he helped Community Servings expand to the Worcester area and advocates for our Food is Medicine initiative to integrate medically appropriate foods and nutrition services into healthcare models.
 
"[The meals] help people recover, help people get well, and they help prevent readmission to the hospital," said McGovern.

Swordfish Kebobs
Our kitchen apprentice, John, grills swordfish kebobs to perfection for our clients' meals. John  is a recent Teaching Kitchen graduate who will be spending the next three months as our apprentice, working alongside our talented kitchen staff to gain even more work experience. 

J ohn recently passed his ServSafe exam and hopes to find a job cooking in a nursing home, hospital, or residential community for people in need, allowing him to "do what he loves while also giving back."
