STRATEGIES INCLUDE:
1. The building fully supports a deeper understanding of rangeland conservation and its important collateral benefits, including carbon sequestration and water, energy, and ecosystems balance.
2. As part of the building’s water treatment and purification system, the rainwater collected in a 13,000 gallon storage tank provides for 100% of non-potable uses.
3. Solar panels offset more than 100% of energy needs.
4. An open cupola brings in daylight and allows hot air to escape.
5. Slotted wood doors can be opened to allow maximum ventilation through the central gathering space.
6. The Dixon Water Foundation focuses on holistic ranching practices to restore and protect our native prairies by using livestock to improve the natural ecosystem.
