Flooding in Ellicott City
Record-setting floods have devastated Main Street in Ellicott City last Saturday. Now is the time for us to come together as a community and help our neighbors in Ellicott City.

Downtown Legislation Tabled

All legislation regarding Downtown Columbia has been tabled until after the Council interim break during the month of August.

The dates and times for the September meetings about Downtown Legislation are as follows:

Monday, September 12, 9:00 a.m. - legislative work session on Downtown Columbia

Thursday, September 22, 6:00 p.m. - special public hearing on Downtown Columbia

Monday, September 26, 4:30 p.m. - regular legislative work session (expected to include discussion of downtown legislation) 
 


Howard County Fair

The 71st annual Howard County fair is coming to the fairgrounds starting August 6th. 

Dates and Times:
August 6-12, 8 am-11 pm.

Pricing :
$5 (10 years & up)
$2 (Seniors, 62 years & up)
Children under 10 FREE


Commission on Disability Issues seeks nominees for annual awards

Nomination forms are available for the Commission on Disability Issues's 2016 awards program. The deadline for nominations is Friday, August 12th.

Free Hands-Only CPR Training

The Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue services is offering free hands-only CPR training on select dates and locations.

The Watershed Stewards Academy is providing training programs for residents to learn how to improve water quality locally.

The Howard County Arts Council is now taking nominations for their Howie Award for those who made contributions to arts in Howard County.

Rain Barrel Workshops

The Howard County Master Gardeners are distributing rain barrels and holding workshops to teach residents how to use them. 

Workshops are from 9 am-11 pm on the following Saturdays:

September 17
October 1
October 15

HCC 5K Challenge Race

Howard Community College, partnered with the Columbia Association and American Heart Association, are hosting a 5K challenge race. Proceeds go towards the HCC student scholarship fund.
