Triad Triathlon Team Newsletter
MESSAGE FROM THE (INCOMING) PRESIDENT
As Simon announced a week or so ago, we have a couple new board members.  Brian DeYoung (that's me!) will be taking over from Simon as the new President, while Melissa Roberts will be taking over from Kerrie Ribando as our VP of Marketing.  I'd like to lead off by thanking both Kerrie and Simon for their service while on the board over the past several years.  The position the club is in today is drastically different than it was several years ago, and that is in no small part to their hard work and dedication to the team, in addition to the other board members.  I wish them both well as they are able to shift their attention to other endeavors, and look forward to their continued participation with the TTT.

That having been said, not much should change in the month-to-month operation of the team.  Simon and I will be working through a transition period through the rest of the season, so it should hopefully appear seamless to the team as a whole.  We do have some new ideas that we are pursuing to help the team continue to be successful and grow to meet the needs of all of our current and future members, but most of those won't see the light of day until after the core race season is over this year.

There are two events over the past month that I'd like to draw attention to.  First is the Lake Brandt Sprint Triathlon.  Despite this race not being part of the official TTT Race Series, our team did have a fantastic showing at this event.  I saw lots of TTT kits around the transition area and finish, and heard some familiar names called up for awards.  And second was the Double Down 2 The Beach 200 mile bike ride.  We had a solid group of members take on the challenge this year and make the trip.  Great job to everyone who participated in these two events!

ATHLETE OF THE MONTH!
This month's AOM is Phillip Arrington!  Phillip can be seen around at lots of our events and is a strong competitor.  Learn more about Phillip by checking out his Q&A.

JULY TEAM MEETING
This month's team meeting will be held at Better Body Cryo (1622 Stanley Road) at 6:30.  Starting at 6:45 we will be receiving a presentation about what is involved in the cryo process and what benefits can be gained from cryo therapy, along with some question and answer time.  After the presentation, Better Body Cryo will be offering complementary sessions for all attendees to experience the benefits.  To make the most out of this opportunity, it is recommended that you attempt to fit in an intense workout Thursday night or Friday morning so that you'll be a bit sore or worn out to get a better feel for what the results of the therapy are for you.

TTT RACE SERIES - HIGH POINT SPRINT TRIATHLON!
Next up for the TTT Race Series is the High Point Sprint Triathlon!  This will be the third race in the TTT Race Series this year, and it is always a popular one.  The race is on August 13th, and consists of a 500m swim at Oak Hollow Lake, followed by a 12.4 mile bike through country roads near High Point, and then an out-and-back 3.1 mile run with a fast, downhill finish.  This event is great for any skill and experience level.

We'll have our team tent present and should have a solid showing for the team.  This race is always pretty full, so if you haven't signed up yet and want to earn some more points for the TTT Race Series, jump on it soon!  And keep in mind that the team does get a 10% discount from Trivium Racing for multisport races.  Contact TTT.President@gmail.com for the discount code before signing up!

Also, watch the Facebook group for training opportunities.  There will likely be several events in the weekends leading up to the race, including course pre-rides, course pre-runs, and course ride/run bricks.  These events will be great opportunities to experience the course with a small group and get familiar with the layout and terrain, prior to taking on the race itself!

NC TRI CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP!
Registration for the NC Tri Club Championship is open, and we're hoping to have a strong showing from the TTT there!  I know this is a "last minute" addition to our race calendar, but we didn't really have much lead time on this one.  The race is on August 20 at Lake Norman, and is a hybrid distance event: 1000m swim, 18 mile bike, and 4.5 mile run.  Entrants will be from triathlon clubs all across the state, competing for points to earn state-wide bragging rights.  The entry fee is $75 (plus USAT one-day if necessary).

There are some additional things that might sweeten the deal for you.  For every 3 entries, the TTT will be getting a comp entry to any of Set Up Events 15 planned 2017 triathlons.  We will be including these as raffle prizes at the end of the year Christmas party for NC Tri Club Championship participants ONLY.  If we are able to get in the top 3 clubs, there may also be additional comp entries and gear that will be included in that raffle as well.

If you're interested in signing up, visit the race site registration page and be sure to select the Triad Tri Team in the "Club Represented" drop down.  The registration page can be found here:  http://www.setupevents.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=event_detail&eventID=2944

We will have the TTT tent present, and will have some team members around to help with setup, watching your gear, and cheering you on during the event.  Let's get out there and make a big impression for the first NC Tri Club Championship!

TRAINING
Monday Recovery Runs:
There are now two Monday recovery runs, one starting at 6 PM from the Payless Shoes off Battleground, and one at 6:15 from the Ragsdale YMCA parking lot near Jamestown.  Both of these are paced to be slow and are about 3 miles long.  Anyone of any speed or ability is welcome to show up and run for as long or as little as you'd like, and socialize after the run is over.

As with all workouts and events, consult the TTT Facebook page for any last minute changes.
