Friends of the Rowley Library to meet August 10 
The Friends typically meet the second Wednesday of even months, at 7:00 p.m. at the Library. Come share your ideas or just sit in to see if you would be interested in getting involved in fundraising or volunteering. Meetings are free and open to the public. Mrs. Thrift's Savory Herbal Kitchen
Thursday, August 11, 7-9 PM
Learn to make Mrs. Thrift's favorite herb-enhanced condiments--vinegars, mustards, butters, pestos, salts, and nuts--and how to use them to lift ordinary everyday meals to a new taste level.
Enjoy a sampling of herb butter, vinegars, mustard, nuts, pestos and herb salt at the end of the program.

Zumba at the Rowley Public Library
Monday, August 22, 6:30 PM 
Come on out, give it a try - it's FREE! Zumba is a fun fitness program that combines dance moves with energetic music. Local instructor Susan Tribble will guide us in this new exercise class, geared towards beginners. Please wear comfortable clothes and sneakers- we'll be moving around! 
Adult Summer Reading
Exercise Your Mind - Read! June 1 - August 31
  •  All activities must be completed by Wed., August 31 to get credit. Completed Bingo cards can be turned in until Saturday, September 10 to be entered in the Grand Prize drawing.
  •  The Grand Prize winner will be chosen by drawing after Sept. 10. The winner will choose: a Kindle Fire or a Fitbit Flex or a gift certificate to a local book store (choice depends on price/availability at time of ordering. Alternatives can be substituted at the library's discretion.)
Race! Summer Movie Madness
Wednesday, August 24, 7:15 pm
We have a new big screen and we're dying to use it! Join us to see a great new release: Race. This PG-13 drama based on true events focuses on legendary black athlete Jesse Owens (Stephan James) and his inspiring journey to overcome racism at home and abroad, culminating in his triumphant track-and-field performance at the 1936 Berlin Olympics under the tutelage of gruff Ohio State coach Larry Snyder (Jason Sudeikis). Movie snacks will be provided!
 
Ongoing programs for adults:
Weekly Hatha Yoga, Wednesdays 5:30 - 7 pm
 
Students will be guided through stretches, twists, balancing and strengthening postures and breathing and meditation techniques. All fitness levels are welcome, no registration required, just drop in to one or all. Bring a mat if you have one and wear comfortable clothes. Each class is $12 or $10 for Friends of the Rowley Library members.
Coloring for relaxation, Mondays, 6-8 pm
Coloring isn't just for kids! It can be good for adults, too, helping us to de-stress and also stimulating brain areas related to motor skills, the senses and creativity. And it's fun! Drop in Mondays this summer between 6-8 pm to give it a try. 
 
Genealogy Club, Monday August 8, 6-8 pm
Interested in researching your family history? Start with yourself! Feel free to join us from 6-8 PM on August 8 in the Local History Room for Genealogy Club, where like-minded researchers can make use of the Library's resources, share ideas, and make progress on family stories. No experience necessary. No expert on hand, but those who have been working on this for a while will help you get started. Databases Ancestry.com (in library only) and Heritage Quest are available for use. 
 
Rowley Library Book Club, Thursday September 1, 6:30 pm
Set between two World Wars and inspired by events in the life of revolutionary anthropologist Margaret Mead, Euphoria is an enthralling story of passion, possession, exploration, and sacrifice from accomplished author Lily King. Winner of the 2014 Kirkus Prize and the 2014 New England Book Award for Fiction. Copies may be picked up at the Rowley Library or place a hold here. Join us on Thursday September 1 at 6:30 pm for a discussion.
Richard Hydren Photographic Study
"Gentle People: a photographic study of residents at Sea View Retreat" will be on display through August at the Rowley Library. Photographer Richard Hydren's use of various lighting techniques, body language and expressions helped to capture the diverse personalities of subjects from 74 to 104. Richard Hydren is a Certified Professional Photographer by Professional Photographers of America, a member of Professional Photographers of New England, and a Director on the Board of the New Hampshire Professional Photographers Association. Many of the images in his series, Gentle People, have won awards in both state and regional competitions, and four of the images are currently competing on the international level.

The Rowley Public Library will be purchasing two Verizon Jetpack 4G LTE Mobile Hotspots, which will give up to 15 Wi-Fi-enabled devices simultaneous access to your own secure, private Internet signal.
