This past week the PNEC sent 159 participants to the National Youth Event at Coronado Springs Resort in Florida where we gathered with over 3,000 other UCC and Disciples of Christ youth. It was a FANTASTIC and MAGICAL week! We worshiped, attended workshops, served in the local mission field and celebrated life. We learned everything from how to get a youth group through airport security promptly to how to be an agent of Christian love and change in our communities. We are all grateful for the prayers and financial support from our local churches and communities in the Penn Northeast Conference.                          -- Tracy Whitehead, Dille Parish, LeRaysville
2017 Annual Meeting of the Penn Northeast Conference will be
Saturday, April 29, 2017, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  - Place TBA.

Children's Sermon for
Aug 7 (based on Luke 12:32-40)

Theme:  God's Kingdom/Realm is about God getting what God wants.  Needed: Small box (like a matchbox without cover)  and a BIG box.    First show the kids the little box.  Put little box on floor (make sure it's open.)   Then bring out  big box.  Tell kids you are going to put this box,  inside box on floor.  Try to do so.  Then ask kids why it's not working--big box won't fit inside little box.  Then tell kids you are going to try it the other way around.   Put big box on floor, pick up little box and put inside.  Ask kids why it works this time--little box easily fits inside big box.   Pick up little box--tell kids this little box is like what  "I want."    The big box stands for what God wants.  When I talk with God (that's called prayer,) and I'm always telling God what to do, that's like trying to fit the Big box into the little box of what I want.   But, if when I talk with God in my prayers, I try to ask God what God wants me to do, that's fitting the little box of what I want into the big box of what God wants.  In today's Bible reading, Jesus talks about God giving us God's Kingdom/Realm.   That is the place where there is joy and peace because everybody is doing what God wants.  I can help that happen by asking God what God wants me to do today.
