Sunday evening, July 31, 2016. Bishop Jamison J. Hardy officiated the installation. Two former pastors of Redeemer, Bishop Emeritus David P. Stechholz and The Rev. Dr. Jonathan C. Naumann, were among the clergy present.

Meeting the neighbors
Hope Lutheran Church in Hastings, MN, hosted their first-ever National Night Out, which brought together more than 125 people from the church and surrounding community. Fun included fresh sweet corn, bouncy house and sand activities. National Night Out was a fantastic evening and a way to meet a lot of Hope's next door neighbors.

#VBS2016
Grace, Elyria, OH, hosted its VBS program Cave Quest and had an exciting week. Sixty-five children plus 44 staff and parents came together nightly to hear that Jesus gives us: HOPE - COURAGE - DIRECTION - LOVE - HIS POWER! The closing on Friday evening included Thrivent Financial appreciation for their Action Team Grants (each child, parent and staff wore their "Live Generously" shirts), followed by a hot dog supper and ice cream sundaes compliments of Twist-N-Shake!

Family time
Pastors, their wives and families from the Detroit North/South Circuits gathered for a picnic on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Risen Christ in Plymouth, MI. A wonderful time of food, fellowship and fun was had by all. A special thank-you to Rennie Kaufman for hosting.

Love Your Neighbor
Giving comfort
The Comfort Dog program at Beautiful Savior in Lee's Summit, MO will be an outreach to members and non-members alike. The goal will be to show the unconditional love of Jesus Christ to everyone, with the Comfort Dog as a central element of their bridge to witnessing. This ministry will provide the church members a chance to get outside their own comfort zone and witness to those in need in a unique way that has been proven to work by Lutheran Church Charities. The dog will be with a specially trained handler. The handlers will also be trained in Christian outreach and community resources. Sharing of time and talent
It's summer...but some of Hales Corners Lutheran School, Hales Corners, WI, piano students are still sharing their gifts. Eighteen piano players (with a few friends from other schools) played two performances at Sacred Heart at Monastery Lake Senior Living in Franklin, WI. Residents enjoyed a variety of pieces including hymns, patriotic songs and popular songs from years ago and today. Thanks to Mrs. Gallo and Mrs. Propp for organizing this opportunity to be a blessing to others!

On Monday, August 1, 2016, Grace English, Chicago, IL, hosted its 4th annual "Fore the Kids" Golf Classic at Old Orchard Country Club.
The event consisted of a day of golf, a silent auction, and a buffet dinner.
There were about 125 golfers and around 150 at the buffet dinner. Students and teachers attended and shared the mission of Grace to all of the golfers present.
All of the money raised through this event will help to offset the cost of tuition for the families at Grace.

DOLLARS & SENSE CHURCH REVIEW
|

Congregations both large and small face the serious task of managing their funds. The members work unselfishly to share His Word in the local community. In order to do this most effectively, each church must make daily decisions as to how to best manage its finances. Many congregations have in their constitution the requirement of an "audit" of their financial records on a periodic basis. Often times, this can be difficult to accomplish due to a lack of availability of the proper level of expertise.
Bishop Jamison J. Hardy has been contacted by many congregations and, thus,
the English District would like to offer an objective and confidential solution.
Paul J. Stanis is a baptized child of God. What he has been doing to support his family since 1976 is to work as a CPA (currently on inactive status). He is experienced in accounting, tax and finance in a wide range of industries. More specifically, he worked as the Treasurer of Peace Lutheran Church in McMurray, PA for three years and had previously held the positions of Provisional Council President, Head Elder, Deacon and Stewardship Chairman.
The English District would like you to consider using Paul to meet your need for this financial review. The only monetary responsibility to the congregation would be for his travel expenses (transportation, lodging and food). This will not require an extended amount of time on site and he would be willing to help defray the cost by staying at a member's home and enjoying Lutheran potluck meals.
The long range goal would be for you to engage Paul every few years, per your constitution.
If you would be interested in exploring this opportunity to strengthen your congregation's foundation, please feel free to contact Bishop Hardy for a personal reference. This will give the District Board of Directors an idea of whether to make this a regular tool for your use

We weren't sure if we could get the newsletter done this month, but we did it! And we are glad to share with you what is happening in the Lord's Church here in Ghana.
Included in our
newsletter is a list of ministries we will be visiting in mid-October through mid-December. If you are near by, come and see us! We love to meet our partners and we would love to hear what God is doing in your life.
As always, could you please find a place for us on the church bulletin board? And, yes, feel free to make copies and mail, and out and out plagiarize our newsletter. After all, it's God's stuff, not ours!
