Our new Star Crimp for extended metal cores provides many benefits over traditional "half moon" style crimps.
Customers specify extended, crimped cores for housings that don't have V-posts, or where dealing with V-posts is problematic. Housing V posts can go missing, become damaged, prevent filter installation (because of dimensional mismatch) or get pulled out with the filters during change-out. Doing away with the V-posts and using filters with extended cores with the new Star Crimp can make installation and removal of filters faster, saving labor during change-out.
After having some key customers trial and approve the new Star Crimp we have converted all our extended metallic cores over to this new style.
Advantages of the New Star Crimp
- The new Star Crimp is tight and springy, so it firmly grips the inner diameter of the housing cup receptacle (adapter). Operators will give the filters a little extra push because of the tight fit and feel the filters snap into place, receiving tactile feedback that the filter is correctly installed.
- The new Star Crimp is very straight - the combination of correct alignment and tight fit means that the filter will consistently stand straight up, so that aligning a hold-down plate and closing up a vessel is much easier and quicker.
- The new Star Crimp has six discreet points of contact with the receiver cup, while the half-moon style crimp had near continuous contact. In certain applications where precipitates form or where liquid product solidifies, the extended core can be "glued" into place making the filter very difficult to remove - the discreet points of contact with the new Star Crimp alleviate that problem.

FF Series - Innovative Stainless Steel Water Filter Assembly with 30" Length x 4.5" O.D. Cartridges
Delta Pure Filtration has launched the FF Series Filtration System which consists of a durable FFH stainless steel filter housing and various FFC high capacity filter cartridges. The FF Series housings and filters provide a compact, simple and economical system for filtration of water and various liquids.
Historically, the 4.5 inch diameter filter format has faced at least two limitations, and we have solved both of these with our FF Series. First is that these filters have been limited to 10" and 20" lengths - we increased this to 30" to provide up to nine times the filter life of a 10" filter, with a dirt holding capacity of approximately 6.25 pounds. That's a disproportionate increase in life, so we are providing tremendous value to our customers.
Secondly, filter housings for the Big Blue® type filters have traditionally opened from the bottom by dropping down the bowl, and that approach results in extra labor, water spillage and mess during change-out. These rugged stainless steel housings are lightweight and open from the top, which is very convenient. They are very easy to use.
