AUGUST NEWSLETTER
As Summer continues to give us glorious weather, I want to remind you of the blessing of June: Since it still applies to the crazy busy lives we find ourselves living.
Savor the world God created as you enjoy and care for it this summer.  Be Jesus' hands and feet and mouth at the pool, at camp, in the backyard, wherever you go this summer.  Be reminded that God the Spirit will be with you and watching over you all summer long.
God's Peace,
Katie Rykal, Director of Children and Family Ministry

WAPO Information
August is here which means WAPO week is here...SEEDS Campers have already come and gone. Our Day Camp Kids have visited for a day, and our YOUTH Campers are enjoying their week. The theme this year is God Listens: Adventures in Prayer and our Campers are getting concrete ways to make prayer a part of their daily life. If you have a WAPO Camper, have a conversation with them - and find ways that you as a family can make prayer a part of your daily life.

If you want to follow along with our week here at WAPO, you can follow along on the WAPO BLOG. We will also be posting more POP Wapo pictures when we return to the office!

Reminder: We will be home between 3:30 and 4:00 on Friday!
POP Tots Playgroup
Saturday, August 6th is our monthly POP Tots Playgroup. The Church will be open from 9:00-11:30 for your child to play, have fun and just be a kid. Weather permitting we will be outside playing with bubbles, the parachute, a ball pit and more! There will be snacks available! Bring the whole family and join us for a morning of fellowship!
Summer Day Camp: August Schedule
It is hard to believe that we are in our last four weeks of Summer Day Camp: Here is a short recap of what is going on this month.
* August 1-5: As some of our youth are at Camp WAPO, our Day Campers will be diving into the same theme and stories that the WAPO Campers are. This year all of our stories focus around PRAYER.
* August 8-12: EPIC Moments: Sports Day Camp will look at the ways that discovery, adversity, game change, defeat and victory make a difference in our lives. We will also be working on some sports skills.
* August 15-19: Jesus said, Let the Children come - and during this week that is EXACTLY what we will do. We will discover people who were called, at a young age, do to miraculous things, and we will discover what we are called to do.
* August 22-26: As we round out our Summer, we are going to be looking more into the Great Commission: Go and make disciples..." As we head back into school, and the playground - how can we take that commission with us?
Sunday Morning DIG!
During the Summer months we hold Sunday Morning DIG twice a month. DIG is similar to a Family Worship Sunday where we will dig into the scripture for the day through games, crafts or other activities. DIG starts right after Kids Time and then we head back into worship after the sermon is done.
Our Sunday Morning DIG Dates for August are as follows:
* August 7 - Treasure Hunt
* August 21 - Holy Sabbath?
There is no pre-registration required!
OutReach Opportunities
There are many ministries that we partner with throughout the year, and ParkBrook Elementary is one of them. We are currently in the midst of our School Supply drive for Park Brook and we need your help. A lot of you will be out school supply shopping in the next couple of weeks (I know, I'm not ready either) so it is a perfect opportunity to pick up a few extra things. Any school supplies that you purchase can be placed in the Park Brook bus located near the kitchen

We also partner with Brooklyn Avenues and they are currently in need of full size shampoos and conditioners to give to the youth as they transition out of Brooklyn Avenues.

One last way to reach out to our Community is by joining us for our last Worship in the Park on Wednesday, August 31st. We meet at Hartkopf park for a potluck dinner @ 5:30 with worship following @ 6:30.
