Consent Agenda

All items on the Consent Agenda are considered to be routine by the Board of Trustees and will be enacted with one motion. There will be no separate discussion of the items unless a Board member so requests, in which event the item will be removed from the Consent Agenda and considered as an item on the Regular Agenda. The following items were approved:

Minutes to the Regular Board Meeting held on June 27, 2016, at 7:00 p.m.
Local District Update LDU 2016.03 (second and final reading) affecting the following local policies:

DED (LOCAL) - Compensation and Benefits: Vacations and Holidays
DNA (LOCAL) - Performance Appraisal: Evaluation of Teachers
DNB (LOCAL) - Performance Appraisal: Evaluation of Other Professional Employees
EIE (LOCAL) - Academic Achievement: Retention and Promotion
FJ (LOCAL) - Gifts and Solicitations
FFA (LOCAL) - Student Welfare: Wellness and Health Services

Action Items

Approved	Selection of Option 3 to purchase attendance credits from the Texas Education Agency for the 2016-2017 school year. This choice is made annually in response to NBISD's Chapter 41 status.
Approved	Funding for Maker Spaces at Lamar Elementary and Walnut Springs Elementary in the amount of $24,000. Funding will be provided through the 2016-2017 Committed Technology Fund.

Director of Student Services Clay Gillentine presented the NBISD 2016-2017 Student and Parent Handbook for review.
Executive Director of Business and Operations Steve Brown presented a written report on the following:
- Extension of Facilities Maintenance Contracted Services and Materials (Bid #0040801 MO) for one year through July 31, 2017
- Extension of Facilities Maintenance Supplies Contract (Bid #003-0801 MO) for the period of one year through July 31, 2017.
- In-state Overnight and Out-of-State Student Trips

The Board discussed the Dress Code for Secondary Campuses for the 2016-2017 school year and heard from the secondary principals, Superintendent Moczygemba and Director of Student Services Clay Gillentine regarding the current decision not to allow students to wear shorts at the secondary campuses. No action was taken.
