Greetings,
A warm summer's day could be a good time for a sail. Try these steam frigates for some ocean adventures.
Please  call or email for prompt responses to your questions and requests for enlargeable images.

From a local collection, the war steam frigate the Terrible and below that, the H. M. S. Geyser, "published 1856 by Ackermann", London. Both are late 19th century and hand colored with the excellent history of purchase from the famed "Old Print Shop " in New York and retaining the old tags. I have not removed the prints from the frames. They have proper plate marks and minor wrinkles. Good gilt and black frames show minor wear. Overall with frames 21" x 28.5". $160 each, sold as a pair. Act quickly to avoid disappointment. The ships are sailing!

_________

A wonderful baroque 17th or early 18th century table with a cleated breadboard top in old worn finish in "as found" condition. A deep central drawer is between bold splayed turned legs with stretchers on turned feet. Charming in both style and condition this is likely continental, but in cherry with hard pine secondary wood and oak stretchers. H. 29.5", w. 40", d. 44.25".  Dramatic design at $1800.

An excellent size to own is shown in this handsome late 18th century Louis XVI marble top commode. The turret cornered top is well figured in pinks, gray, and white. As is typical, the marble has a minor repair.
The desk feature includes a leather writing surface and an inks drawer. Locks are period and hardware is the correct type but a later set. Later catches (invisible) hold the desk face when shut.
H. 33", w. 37.5", d. 19.25". A gem for $1950.

Provenance: Baron Voruz de Vaux, New York (oval label in drawer). Voruz de Vaux, a New York decorator and dealer, supplied H.F. du Pont and others with fine antiques and works of art. He had a gallery at 635 Park Avenue in New York City.
