LINDA JOJO FEATURED IN #TECH50
Linda Jojo, Chief Information Officer of United Airlines, was featured in Crain's Tech 50 list. Linda focuses on pushing out mobile tech to the United workforce with specific apps for gate agents, pilots, baggage handlers and others. Long term, she wants to bring more of the internet of things to the airline, tracking cargo, bags, employees and customers to smooth out a business that's always in flux. CONSTRUCTION TO BEGIN ON HIGH-PROFILE TOWER DESIGNED BY JEANNE GANG
Once completed, the monumental riverside Vista Tower complex, designed by Jeanne Gang, will be the third largest building in Chicago. Construction is expected to begin either this July or August, with a completion date of late 2019, but space has already been purchased as 110 of the available 406 condominiums are now under contract.

As is apparent from Vista's renderings, Jeanne will use her signature fluid, amorphous lines on this project. Read more...
COOK COUNTY TRANSPORTATION PLAN ENDORSED BY CYCLISTS
Cook County released a 25-year transportation plan Wednesday, and Chicago bike advocates immediately endorsed it for its commitment to cycling and walking. "It's not a wish list," said County Board President Toni Preckwinkle. "It's a framework for how we're going to proceed." Read more...
THE WRITERS THEATRE PROFILED BY AMERICAN THEATRE 
This spring, The Writers Theatre, which relocated to an impressive facility designed by Jeanne Gang, was profiled in American Theatre. "Our smaller theatre was inside a bookstore, our 108-seat theatre was in another building, our rehearsal space was inside a church," said Executive Director Kate Lipuma. "We needed to find a different home. We needed to control our own destiny." Read more...

THE HUNTING GROUND GETS EMMY RECOGNITION
"The Hunting Ground," the campus rape documentary produced by Lifeways CEO Julie Smolyansky, received two Emmy Award nominations. The movie was nominated in the category of "exceptional merit in documentary filmmaking" and in the song category for the Oscar-nominated "'Til It Happens To You." Read more...

The National Women's History Museum is pleased to welcome Julie Smolyansky to its board of directors. The board provides leadership for delivering on NWHM's mission to build a world-class museum on the National Mall that educates, inspires, empowers and shapes the future by integrating women's distinctive stories into the culture and history of the United States. GRACE HOU WINS LEADERSHIP AWARD
Grace Hou, President of Woods Fund Chicago, was recently awarded the Adler University Community Leadership Award recognizing outstanding work for social change and social justice. Grace was appointed President of Woods Fund Chicago in February 2012. Her career has been dedicated to systems change improvement through public policy development and implementation, social services provision, community organizing and engagement, and philanthropy. She has served on multiple boards of trustees, including at Adler University. Read more...

YWCA Metropolitan Chicago ( Dorri McWhorter) and local brand marketing agency VSA Partners were recognized for innovative 'Without the W' marketing campaign designed to raise awareness of the YWCA's 140-year history of providing critical services for women and families throughout Chicagoland. "In an era of social-driven value, we are building key relationships with companies and brands that share the same vision of a world where the marketplace advances society," said YWCA Metropolitan Chicago CEO Dorri McWhorter. "Really, we're mirroring a strategy of any traditional business model-it's just not one typically seen in the 'non-profit' space." Read more...
