For others it means catching up on  summer reading. Whatever you choose to do with your time, enjoy the rest of your break!

Register Now for the Online ESSA Regional Forum with OSPI

J oin OSPI as they host a forum in your region on ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act).

Each forum is open to the public and will cover:
  • Opportunities and challenges that lie ahead
  • How ESSA is similar to and different from the No Child Left Behind Act
  • Open discussion for the community to provide feedback

Washington EdCamp

EdCampCSTP was a proud sponsor of EdCamp in Renton, WA on July 11 - the "unconference" where educators come together for self-led dialogue and discussion. Educators from several school districts came to discuss teacher leadership, cultural competency, use of technology and so much more! Check out these photos and session notes from the day. #CampCSTP in North Bend, WA


CampCSTPOnce again, #CampCSTP hosted an amazing group of educators from all regions of Washington in North Bend, WA. This week-long teacher leadership professional learning was split into three sessions where teachers could choose 1, 2 or all 3 sessions. Attendees in Session 1: A Deeper Dive into Teacher Leadership used the Teacher Leadership Framework to begin crafting their leadership journey while exploring the knowledge, skills and dispositions to be an effective teacher leader.
In Session II: Advocacy and Messaging the teachers focused on developing advocacy skills and crafting a personal message. Each person was able to practice their "pitch" with each other and on a panel featuring Representative Chad Magendanz from the 5th Legislative District; Jack Archer, Director of Basic Education Oversight with the State Board of Education; Carolyn Logue a Contract Lobbyist; and Kelly Munn with the League of Education Voters.
Session III: Writers' Retreat attendees were guided by professional writer Sylvia Soholt and NBCT Cindy Rockholt to explore education issues that were personal to them and articulate them in a writing piece. Each candidate was able to meet personally with Sylvia and other participants for feedback. Their stories will be compiled later this fall and posted to the CSTP website. To cap off the retreat, participants enjoyed hearing from a writers' panel including NBCT Lori Johnson a Washington State ASCD Journal Co-Editor; Lisa Laurier, Washington State ASCD Journal Co-Editor; NBCT Jessie Towbin from the Highline School District; NBCT Mark Gardner from the Camas School District and Stories from School blogger; and Dr. Anthony Smith, Associate Professor and Associate Dean with the University of Washington, Bothell.

Summer Reading Recommendations

CSTP Clock Hour Transcripts Mailed in August

Have you taken a professional development course with clock hours through CSTP? If so, your official clock hour transcript will be mailed in the middle of August. If you do not receive your official clock hour record by the end of August, please contact  Cindy Kleinfelter  for assistance at  [email protected] .

Partner with CSTP to Offer Clock Hours at your Workshop

Are you planning professional development for your staff? How about a literature circle or a short series of learning opportunities? Tie your workshops to clock hours through CSTP. 

CSTP is an approved clock hour provider in the State of Washington. We have a simple application process for you and your participants, with approval times within one week. Once the training is over, we have a simplified electronic evaluation process that we administer to participants, and we hold onto their clock hour records per the state retention schedule.

It's free for you to apply to offer the clock hours, and low fees for participants to collect their clock hours.  Participant fees are $10 for 3-9.9 hours, $20 for 10-19.5 hours, $30 for 20-49.9 hours, and $50 for 50 or more hours.
