Submit Your Nominations for the MSPPS Consumer Advisory Council

MSPPS is seeking participants for our Consumer Advisory Council. This Council will consist of patients, caregivers, providers, and other stakeholders.

This initiative will help MSPPS strengthen community relations and foster the integration of community based organizations into the PPS. Through focus groups and discussions, the Council will provide the PPS with insight to develop programs that will aid the needs of patients and consumers in the community.

Lead members of existing Patient Advisory Boards, health experts from Managed Care Organizations, patient interest groups, and other health institutions are invited to participate and discuss overarching system-level issues faced by patients.

Planning discussions have recently begun for the development and structure of the Council. Mount Sinai PPS is seeking Council nominations for motivated and interested patient and non-patient members. If you wish to place nominate or self-nominate, please contact Tara Partovi: [email protected]
Lead Ambassador Program to Increase Stakeholder Engagement

They will work with the MSPPS Senior Stakeholder Engagement Manager, Tara Partovi, on strategies to create DSRIP awareness and education within each Ambassador's community.

More information on this initiative will be discussed at the next Stakeholder Engagement meeting on Tuesday, August 2nd. To contact Tara or to join the next meeting, please e-mail [email protected]

Goodwill NYNJ's Innovative Approach to Integrating the DSRIP Program within their Behavioral Health Program Partner

This month, our Partner Spotlight Series focuses on Goodwill Industries of Greater New York and Northern New Jersey, Inc., a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment to gain independence through the power of work. With DSRIP, they have been thinking about how they fit in with value-based contracting.  Read the full story here

One of the key highlights of Goodwill NYNJ is how they have been integrating DSRIP into their behavioral health programs and positioning themselves for the future.

Seven of the 70 programs within Goodwill NYNJ fall under the behavioral health spectrum. These programs include two Personalized Recovery Oriented Services (PROS) programs, Seamark PROS and PROS Rebound.

The PROS programs are licensed by the Office of Mental Health and are located in Queens and Brooklyn.

Goodwill NYNJ's Integration of DSRIP with Behavioral Health Programs
Currently, PROS Rebound, located in Queens, has been able to incorporate DSRIP into staff education and the clinical and operational workflows.

Jennifer Tine, Senior Vice President of Behavioral Health Services, recognized that the first step was to get involved with Mount Sinai PPS. Effie Tsangalidis, Director of Managed Care Organizations, has also been an active participant with MSPPS' Project 3aiii since early 2015. Jennifer said of Mount Sinai PPS, "We chose Mount Sinai as the partner we wanted to work with most because it was clear how structured the program was going to be."

In order to integrate DSRIP into the PROS Program, Jennifer realized that this ch ange needed to be communicated effectively to her staff. She provided informational meeting s specific to DSRIP to inform her staff   of the recent changes in healthcare.

Once her staff was aware of these changes, Jennifer and her team were able to incorporate the medication adherence self-management goals template developed from the MSPPS Project 3.a.iii Workgroup into Goodwill NYNJ's electronic health records.

At first, staff were concerned about the additional work.  However, Jennifer and her t eam were able to communicate the importance of incorporating this form in measuring patients' outcomes and providing better care. Jennifer said of this integration, "It's one thing to put the form in the electronic health record, but it actually needs to tie back to all the clinical work we're doing, otherwise it's not really being integrated."

Jennifer believes that by incorporating the 3.a.iii self-management goals into monthly progress notes it reinforces to staff should be consistently thinking about meeting DSRIP goals.

We are working with several partners to pilot this solution. Their feedback will help shape the content and user experience for this portal.

If you have not already, please e-mail us your organization's logo as a PNG or .EPS file, along with 50-100 words about your organization to [email protected]. This will assist with the development of our website.
Compliance Education for Your Organization
