Forgive us our sins

This week:  Luke 11:1-4
These next four weeks are based on the same four verses, which make up Luke's account of The Lord's Prayer.  It is simple, yet profound. As readers learn and grow in their spiritual lives, the prayer itself takes on new shades of meaning.

Brokenness is a shared experience among humans.  Everyone does things they are not proud of.  How people handle their brokenness is as varied as there are human beings.  Whether people hold onto their brokenness or let it go, forgiveness is a key ingredient to restoration and wholeness.  To be forgiven by another is powerful; to be forgiven by self is even more powerful; to be forgiven by God restores us in ways no other can.  When God restores through forgiveness, we are restored to wholeness within the entire fabric of creation.  The energy that is released out into the world when God extends forgiveness has the power to heal the planet.  It also has the power to decimate guilt and shame.  This prayer petition recognizes that what happens between people, and between people and creation, and between people and God matters.

Save the date - October 9th - after service
A Silent Auction is planned for October 9 th; please mark your calendars!    Lots more details will be coming, but we wanted to give you plenty of time for thinking, creating, crafting, designing, and working on Silent Auction items for it.  In the past, we have had some pretty amazing items for auction and we are hoping for lots of those again this fall; it's what makes our Silent Auction so awesome!

Remember the Food Pantry This Summer!
School is almost out, and with that end the Free and Reduced Breakfasts and Lunch program at schools that many of our Eagle River and Chugiak young people rely on will end as well.

This summer let's focus on:
  • Proteins: Peanut Butter, Spam (very popular), Tuna, Chili, etc.
  • Breakfast Cereals: Especially more healthy options.
  • Canned Soup (other than Ramen):  Easy to make, Good balance between protein and carbs.
  • Box milks: Doesn't need refrigeration.
