HUMOR COLUMN
More Jokes from Bob:

The man nodded, and the pastor handed him a pad and pen.
A family went to church one day. The choir sang beautifully and the Pastor preached the word of God profoundly. The congregation shouted and danced praised unto God. They had a really exciting time in The Lord. On the way home, the youngest son said. "Dad, I can't believe they put on that whole show for only a dollar!"
*****
After church one Sunday, little Suzy announced that she wanted to be a pastor. Pleased and surprised, her parents asked her why she came to that decision.
"Well," she explained, "I figured it would be more fun to stand in front and yell than sit in the pews and listen."
*****
Delivering a speech at a banquet on the night of his arrival in a large city, a visiting minister told several anecdotes he expected to repeat at meetings the next day.
Because he wanted to use the jokes again, he requested the reporters to omit them from any accounts they might turn in to their newspapers.
A cub reporter, in commenting on the speech, ended his piece with the following: "The minister told a number of stories that cannot be published."
*****
An impoverished old man applied for membership in a rich church. The pastor attempted to put him off with all kinds of evasive remarks, and finally dismissed him, saying, "Go ahead and pray on it."
Several days later he returned.   "Well," asked the pastor, "did the Lord give you a message?"   "Yes Sir, he did" was the old man's answer.  "He told me it wasn't any use.  He said, 'I've been trying to get in that same church myself for ten years, and I still can't make it.'"
*****
A preacher was completing a temperance sermon: with great expression he said, "If I had all the beer in the world, I'd take it and throw it into the river." With even greater emphasis he said, "And if I had all the wine in the world, I'd take it and throw it into the river."
And then finally, he said, "And if I had all the whiskey in the world, I'd take it and throw it into the river."
He sat down. The song leader then stood very cautiously and announced with a smile, "For our closing song, let us sing Hymn # 365: "Shall We Gather at the River."

It's the middle of Summer.  Life is a bit looser, unless you have planned too many vacations and will need some rest from your rest.  But it's the perfect time to invite someone to church!  Before the Autumn sports season starts, before the holidays come crashing down on us like a tidal wave, before all of those things make demands on us, consider inviting a friend to church this Summer.  Who knows? You might be the messenger God has appointed to bring somebody into the Kingdom.  And that's a pretty cool thing!

   Peace,
   Chris
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY WORK DAY  THIS SATURDAY, JULY 16
More volunteers are needed!  Being summer with everyone's busy schedules and traveling, we could really use a few more volunteers THIS SATURDAY, July 16.  Last Sunday's Gospel was about helping our neighbors ("The Good Samaritan") and this is a real opportunity to do just that!  If you are able, just come on Saturday anytime after 8 am, the new starting time.  Address is 3564 Questa - in the Denver Steel neighborhood.  Jobs will include: drywall, interior trim and hardware, painting, yard work, and landscaping.   Parking is no longer allowed on the street, so we are advised to park remotely, such as the other side of Diamond where the gas station was previously.  Lunch and water will be provided.  To borrow a slogan from Gateway Mission:  'OUT OF THE PEW AND INTO ACTION!"  Questions, please contact Cathy Waters at 690-2309 or [email protected].   Thank you!
Youth Choir Traveling
On Youth Choir is traveling to Wilkes-Barre this weekend. Please pray for safe travel and a very blessed time as they learn and as they share their wonderful gifts of music.
Elder Group meets July 25 at TOTH
On July 25th Cathy Walters will serve as host for host the TOTH Elder Group. She has scheduled retired Visiting Nurses Executive Director Sarah Rochester to talk on "End of Life Issues and Five Wishes." The group will meet at 10:00 a.m. in Sherrill Hall; coffee and a light snack will be served.
CHECK OUT TOTH COMMUNITY GARDEN
Our ToTH Community Garden is growing! Zucchini flowers with tiny squash attached for picking soon, tomatoes emerged small and green, about six inches of bean plants needing propping up any day. Other plants we see leafing well are: radishes, pumpkin, watermelon, cucumbers, eggplant and sweet peppers. Want to plant something? There is still space. Want to help pull 'bind weed?' Call Paul Lisowski.

Thanks to Paul and Richard for the hard work they did to prepare the ground and watering system, and plant!
TOTH Playground Project Update
Yeah! The Playground structure is done and ready for use. However, there is no fence yet so watch your kids closely as they play.
Next step? Jerome Colletti, another Troop 22 Boy Scout will be installing the fence. We are looking at a beautiful, low maintenance, vinyl, privacy fence with gate. We will be announcing work days when they are set.

Did you know you can get your own TOTH Directory online?
How to log into MyTOTH:
  • Go to the church website (www.latoth.org) and
  • Click on the button labeled "MyTOTH."
  • At the bottom of the log in window, Click where it says "Need a Login? Click here."
  • Enter your first and last names, and the email address the church uses for you.
    • MyTOTH should recognize you if you are an active member of TOTH.
    • If this doesn't work .let Cynthia know so we can check that we have the right email address for you in the database!
  • WHen the system recognizes you, you can set up your own user name and password. Please note that, in order to keep the highest level of security for our database, you are asked to create a password using UPPER case and lower case letters, numbers, and special characters. (IDEA: your favorite Bible verse citation.)
  • Once you are in MyTOTH, check your profile and make sure everything is correct; if we have something incorrect in your record, please submit the correction as a change request.
    •  You can also attempt to upload a better photo of yourself or your family while you are there.
    •  Your request for a change automatically goes to Cynthia who will make the correction in the system (as appropriate).
  • Smart phone users... Now that you have established your own login on your computer, you can download the free app to your smart phone; it is called "ACS Church Life" and you can find it in your app store. Once it's downloaded into your phone, use the same login you created on your computer for MyTOTH to start getting into Church Life. Finding other TOTH folks with this app is very convenient!
  • If you have forgotten your login, call or visit the office so we can help you. Both Cynthia and Jane know how to do this.
