Dear friends and Fellows of CSLI Annapolis,

September is here and the Annapolis C.S. Lewis Institute is in full swing:

We welcome the return of our SJC (St. John's College) students with a "Welcome Back Picnic" on Sunday, August 24, and the weekly men and women's fellowships are underway (see calendar below for times/locations).

Our Fellows retreat will be this Friday/Saturday, September 5/6 at Osprey Point Conference and Retreat Center. We will have over 40 people (Fellows and Mentors) at this year's retreat which is a highlight in our CSLI calendar year.

We will have our first Chesapeake Area pastors luncheon on Wednesday, September 10, noon, at the Federal House's upper room. Close to 50 area pastors attend this event quarterly to fellowship and encourage one another in the Church's mission of making disciples in this area. Other luncheons are planned for 12/3/14, 2/25/15, and 5/13/15 at the same time and location.

We have planned our annual Fellows Reunion dinner for Thursday, November 13, 6-9pm at the Yellowfin Restaurant. This is for all Fellows and their guests, past and present. Two special guest speakers will be with us. More on this in a separate communication.

Ken Boa will make his annual visit to Annapolis on November 20-23. This agenda is being developed, but the focus of this trip will be to give the general public the opportunity to hear and engage Ken.

We have booked Randy Newman (author and apologist) to conduct an apologetics seminar on February 27/28. Randy is a gifted speaker and facilitator and will be working with our Fellows (past and present) to sharpen their apologetics skills.

We are in the process of planning 2-3 seminars between January and April to offer the Annapolis community an opportunity to engage and be blessed by the speakers content of CSLI Annapolis. Watch the newsletter for more on this.

Below is our calendar of events for the coming year. Mark your calendars and plan to participate as often as possible.

Blessings all...

Amy's Corner:

This month we have something starting that I've  been looking forward to for a while. Some of our women fellows alumni approached me and wanted to put together a group for those of us who have finished the Fellows Program but still want the community of like-minded believers and want to continue to grow in discipleship. On Tuesday, September 16th at 7:00pm, all women who are alumni of the Fellows Program and live in the Annapolis area are invited to come to June Larkin's home at 154 Prince George St. We will be reading The Discipline of Grace by Jerry Bridges. For more information, email me

Woohoo! I'm excited for this semester at St. John's! We are finally starting back up our Lewis Reading Group this month, kicking off with The Screwtape Letters. We will start on Sunday, September 14 on campus at 7:30pm upstairs in the BBC in the King William Room. We'll have drinks and a little dinner, and start our discussion. We'll take a two week break and be back on September 28 and October 5 to finish our discussion.

Our men and women's fellowships are off and running, and I'm looking forward to see how these groups will grow over the course of this year together. The Christian Fellowship is also having a dinner to get everyone together to just hang out on Saturday, September 20th, 6:30pm at my house: 201 Hanover St., Apt A.

I'm in the process of planning several other events, one of which will be a joint midshipmen-johnnie evening, hopefully on campus at St. John's. We had an event like this in the past, which was incredible, and I'm praying the Lord helps us orchestrate something like it again this semester.

Please pray for me and Jim and Ann as we plan and seek the Lord for our work at SJC. I am praying the Lord would enable us to reach many students with the love of Christ.

Blessings,

Amy
