WDIY Studio Sessions to Spotlight Musikfest Artists
In-studio performances from Musikfest artists are coming to WDIY!
Musikfest is less than two weeks away! The annual music festival kicks off on Friday, August 5th and, to celebrate, WDIY will be welcoming Musikfest artists into our studios for live performances and interviews!
These studio sessions will feature stripped-down and acoustic performances afternoons during
The Blend (weekdays, 1:00 - 4:00pm) starting this week.
Interviews and performances will immediately follow the 2:00 PM news headlines from NPR. This week's schedule is below:
Wednesday, July 27:
VoirVoir
Bethlehem-based indie rock band who opened for The Flaming Lips at Musikfest 2015 (Fleeting Youth Records).
Thursday, July 28: The Insidious Rays
Bethlehem-based four-piece band and Musikfest veterans spanning multiple styles from funk to surf rock to punk rock.
Friday, July 29:
Trouble City All-Stars
Bethlehem-based reggae band who opened for Snoop Dogg at Musikfest 2015. Their music touches on roots, dub, rocksteady, and psychedelic rock.

At the Movies: "The BFG," as in "The Big Friendly Giant," is directed by Steven Spielberg. The computer-generated imagery feature is based on the best-selling children's book by Roald Dahl. The BFG title character is voiced by Mark Rylance, a supporting actor Oscar recipient for "Bridge of Spies." Paul Willistein of the Lehigh Valley Press reviews "The BFG," a fantasy-adventure film.

Eleanor Bobrow discusses the problem of addiction. What options are there to identify, help, and treat those with addiction problems? Her guests are Scott Weisenberger, CEO of the Malvern Institute, and Jennifer Lively, Executive Director of the Malvern Institute's newest facility in Catasauqua. The Malvern Institute is the oldest, continuously operating drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility in the Philadelphia area.
