We have the privilege of hosting two college students, and one high school student. All three are interested in pursuing aspects of history as a career.

Meet Marisa Davila. Marisa has been reviewing the Historian
page o
n the County website for outdated material and broken links. She has created a list of correctio
ns to bring it up to date. Marisa has also been contacting all of the historical organizations throughout the County in order to create a list of
the programs they offer at their site, but also what programs can travel to schools. Thi
s will eventually go on the Historian website for educators, and the public in general and we hope it will help teachers to incorporate local history into their lesson plans. She was also helpful in coordinating the han
ging of a brass plaque that honors the OC lawyers who fought in WWII which was placed on the second floor of the Goshen Courthouse.
When Marisa is not hard at work in our office, she is also working at a restaurant. She will be returning to SUNY Binghamton where she is pursing a BA in Art History.

Meet Kevin Teel. Kevin has been
invaluable in researching the cemeteries of Orange County. Not an easy task. There are hundreds of them, and after obtaining information from around the Co
unty, Kevin is creating a database of the cemeteries, noting which are County-owned, and
which are being cared for by local municipalities, and even families. He's also helped organize a historical lecture at the Middletown Thrall Library, scheduled for October, that will feature a representative from the New York State Preservation Society.
When he isn't doing historical stuff, Kevin is also life-guarding at a local condo community. He returns for his senior year at Hobart College where is pursuing his BA in History with plans on obtaining his Masters of Arts in Teaching by May 2018.

Meet Maria Tarulli. Maria is our high school intern. She attends Goshen High, and already has taken the opportunity to work in Assemblyman James Skoufis' office, and join the Friends of Goshen Public Library and Historical Society. Her favorite historic site in Orange County is the Harness Racing Museum. Although she hasn't figured out exactly what her future holds, she knows it will definitely involve the past in some way. Right now, we have Maria working on collecting event information for our newsletter, and going through the storage boxes in the basement, and bringing up some of our research material to place on our office shelves.

Congratulations to the Hudson Highland Nature Museum for being voted the 'Number 1 place to take kids in the Hudson Valley' and also the 'Valley's favorite nature center.' This was from a poll conducted by Kids Out and About in the Hudson Valley.
