Proclaimed as "The Home of Cycling in Ontario", the region stretches from Lake Ontario north to the Niagara Escarpment, offering a mix of fantastic cycling  experiences  for all kinds of riders.

September 24-25 ~  Simcoe County Rail Trails

Located just over an hour north of Toronto, Simcoe County has a rail trail network that loops and
criss-crosses the region, making it a fabulous destination for recreational riders looking to explore the region by bike. 

Join Ontario By Bike for a fabulous fall two-day weekend tour along some of the best trails in Simcoe  County.  Passing through several small towns and by historic sites along the route, enjoy an easy ride on trails of mixed surfaces.

Featuring primarily o ff-road riding (approx. 10 km on roads) in Simcoe County the tour begins near Barrie, heads north to the rugged shores of Severn Sound in Georgian Bay and ends in your choice of either Orillia or Barrie. 

With an average daily ride distance  of under 60km, this tour is suitable for cyclists with some cycling experience.  The tour includes one night hotel accommodation at the newly renovated Comfort Inn in Midland, breakfast, two lunches, snacks, booking fee, shuttle from Orillia/Barrie and more.

Get Outside in Cottage County!

Two great resources are now available in 'Cottage Country' for cyclists, making hopping into the saddle this summer that much easier!
 
With nearly 50 certified bicycle friendly businesses across the district, including one of three bicycle friendly businesses areas in Ontario, a growing number of cycling events, and increasing riding options, Parry Sound continues to develop a wonderful cycling and bicycle friendly reputation. With Get Outdoors Parry Sound (GOPS)'s new website now online, its easier than ever to purchase day passes or memberships for Georgian Nordic Ski Club, which now offers a growing mountain biking trail network. Passes can also be purchased at the two bike shops in town, Trysport or Parry Sound Bikes.

From   Algonquin Park and Muskoka to  Almaguin and   Loring-Restoule, across to  Parry Sound  and the shores of Georgian Bay, the tourism region known as Explorers' Edge is a  renowned and iconic four-season vacation destination. 

The region`s new BikeCottageCountry.ca website  puts cycling`s best wheel forward and aims to connect visitors with other riders, routes and local experts to make cycling in Ontario's cottage country the best it can be. Some of the great highlights include:
  • A "Bike Blog" for ongoing stories and experiences happening in the area
  • Lists of rentals, guides and bike shops for each of the areas within the region
  • A fantastic interactive map, with regional breakdowns and by activity types (tour, train, trek). Each activity type offers icons on a Google Map that links to routes with detailed pages featuring maps, pictures and route details. 
  • Beautiful collage of crowd-sourced imagery, post your photo on Instagram using #bikecottagecountry
