Greetings! As I write this, we are on the eve of kicking off a new Fellows class at Osprey Point, MD. We have seventeen Year 1 Fellows and seven Year 2 Fellows in this year's classes. Add to that eleven dedicated mentors and we will have a great group the next two days at the retreat. In addition, our SJC Fellowships have begun (Amy will tell you more about that) and we are looking forward to some excellent seminars in the next few months. While these are not on the calendar as yet, we are discussing topics/dates with some excellent speakers and will be publicizing these events shortly. We are having our first Pastor's Luncheon at noon on Wednesday, September 18th in the "Upper Room" at the Federal House restaurant. This will be our best attendance ever, not because of anything the Institute has done, but because a group of area pastors have felt led to meet each Wednesday at noon and pray for our city and those who need Jesus who are within our reach. This prayer time has grown and CSLI was invited by the pastors to help facilitate communications by continuing our practice of quarterly pastor luncheons. We are delighted to have been invited by the pastors to be part of this Spirit-led incursion into the enemy's territory. Thank you for your prayers and generous support! Aslan is on the move! Amy's Collegiate News: I'm excited that the school year is off to a start, and already God is doing encouraging things! We had a fantastic welcome back picnic and were able to meet some of the new freshmen. Courtney, the new Christian Fellowship archon did a great job of welcoming everyone and sharing his hopes that we would create a solid community and family on campus. Our men's and women's fellowships had their second meeting this week, the men having a fantastic discussion on Ayn Rand and objectivism, and the women beginning a study on the book of Ruth. It's been great to welcome new people into these fellowships! Please continue to pray for these, that Jesus would bring the specific people He has in mind to these fellowships and that they would be Spirit-filled and God-honoring. This month we're starting something new! There will be the first meeting on the evening of the 22nd in the BBC (Barr Buchanan Center) of what we hope will be an ongoing book discussion based on various works by C.S. Lewis. This group is for any St. John's student, with the purpose being to build relationships with students and engage in discussions of faith. Our first book is going to the The Magician's Nephew. I ask your prayers for this exciting opportunity! In October we have Blake Davis joining us for a weekend in Annapolis from ELIC to share about his experiences and the opportunity to teach English in Asia. There will be more details on this to come, but mark for calendars for October 10-13! I am hoping to soon begin to plan a fall retreat for students, please pray for me that the Spirit would lead in this! In Him, Amy
