Santa Fe Chapter | Newsletter | January 2020
Santa Fe TTN is organized and led entirely by volunteers.
COORDINATOR'S CORNER
Happy 2020! This month we celebrate both the start of a new year and a new decade. I am drawn to look back, not just on the past year, but on the past ten years, and from that perspective it feels like I have come a long way. When I take this longer view, I can see that I have made many significant changes in the past ten years and have actually accomplished far more than I realized.
Beginning the year (and the decade) looking back and appreciating all that we’ve learned and all that we’ve done can be surprising and heartening. Taking stock in this way can help us to see ourselves in a new light and to appreciate how we have persevered through challenges and transitions. We have somehow managed not only to survive, but even to find new ways to thrive. We are stronger and more resilient than we know!

As winter continues to enfold us, with cold and wind and snow, the outer world gives us plenty of reasons to spend time in quiet, preparing ourselves for the year ahead. Like a gardener looking over seed catalogs in the middle of winter, envisioning the garden at mid-summer, we can also take time during these short days and long nights to imagine how our lives will unfold in the coming months. This is the time to take what we have learned from the past and to begin to dream and to plan for the future. We turn our view from looking backward with appreciation to looking forward with imagination and vision.

I invite you to step into the New Year releasing what was, savoring what is, and opening to what will be!

Please join me and the amazing women of the Santa Fe Chapter of TTN for our inspiring programs and lively events as we share the gift of this New Year together. Wishing you all a happy, healthy, abundant and peaceful 2020!

CHAPTER NEWS
SEASONAL MERRIMENT AT
DECEMBER'S HOLIDAY PARTY
Good food, delectable desserts, and shared laughter were the highlights of our Santa Fe Chapter holiday gathering. After enjoying the feast and catching up, we had some fun with a holiday gift swap. After numbers were randomly chosen, the first person opened her gift and the following people selected their gifts and could ‘swap’ it for any previous gifts. Finally, the first person was able to survey all the other gifts and choose her favorite.

We learned that we have a definite preference for candles as gifts, and the surprised look on the faces of those whose selected gifts were nabbed, led to a lot of laughter and good-natured kidding. Spirits were high as we ended the evening fulfilled and refreshed to take on the rest of the holiday season!

Our thanks to the Montezuma Lodge team for sharing their beautiful decorations which added to the festive atmosphere.
WOMEN IN TRANSITION: A WORKSHOP
FOR WOMEN EXPLORING WHAT’S NEXT
SATURDAY • FEBRUARY 8 • 12:30-5:00 PM
Montezuma Lodge, 431 Paseo de Peralta

We are always in transition. Sometimes it’s big and sometimes small. We often struggle with how can I make this change work better for me? What we know is that it is affecting how we are living our life now.

The Women in Transition (WIT) Workshop takes the participants through the three stages of any transition, explaining how each stage can be understood and embraced.

By attending the Women in Transition workshop, we find out that we are not alone and that can be very reassuring.

Here’s what stood out from previous participants:
  • “The quality of the presentation – everyone had the opportunity to be heard”
  • “No matter what area of transition you are in all of the phases make sense!”
  • “You created such a safe and rich environment for us to share in.”

The workshop is open to TTN members ($30)
and non-members ($40).

HELP WANTED!
Short-Term Special Project:  2-3 people are needed to help with a special project that involves pulling together our chapter’s history. This spring will be TTN’s 20 th anniversary and our chapter’s 8 th anniversary. Founder Jean Palmer has most of the chapter’s history but needs help organizing and compiling the materials. Help create additional display boards and a scrapbook or two. This project will be short term.

Women in Transition Workshop Administrative Assistant:  Jean Palmer, the current Women in Transition (WIT) Coordinator, is looking for a volunteer admin assistant for the upcoming WIT workshop. The person would help the WIT Coordinator in January do some of the jobs in preparation for the workshop. Some possibilities would be to have materials printed, sending out and posting publicity, putting together folders for the participants and other similar tasks.

If interested in either of these positions, contact Jean@JeanPalmer.com .

WE ARE STARTING NEW PEER GROUPS!
COME JOIN US FOR THE
TRANSITION PEER GROUP KICK-OFF
THURSDAY • FEBRUARY 20 • 6:30-8:30 PM
34 Via Summa, Santa Fe (off 599)
A Transition Peer Group consists of a small group of women (usually 8-10) who join together in each other's homes (usually once or twice a month) to discuss topics of mutual interest and relevance to their current lives. Transition Peer Groups provide opportunities for connection, new friendships and mutual support in a safe, respectful environment as women navigate their individual life transitions.

Here's what one Peer Group participant said: "I have found participating in our Transition Peer Groups one of the special opportunities offered by our TTN Chapter. We share our individual experiences of chosen topics such as aging, friendships, isolation, or passion in a confidential environment. The unique format encourages developing the art of listening, the art of shared facilitating and providing the kind of support which enables each member to find their own unique solutions."

Participation in a Transition Peer Group is a TTN member benefit.

Please bring your calendars for scheduling your group’s meetings.
