Surviving Without Driving
Presented by Katherine Freund
Founder and President of the ITNAmerica
Tuesday, August 18
1:00 PM
In the heyday of the private automobile, surviving without driving once seemed an impossibility. But in this age of information technology, rideshare, Zoom and fast approaching autonomous vehicles, living well without driving is entering the mainstream. And just in time for older adults, whose crash risk places them in the same league as inexperienced teenagers, though for very different reasons.
Peer into the transportation future with Katherine Freund, founder and President of the Independent Transportation Network of America (ITNAmerica), the first national nonprofit transportation network for older adults and people with visual impairments. Learn how to manage the age related changes that impact safe driving and plan the safe transition to the ever growing selection of consumer oriented alternatives.

I Think Eye Understand Hurricanes
presented by H. Michael "Mike" Mogil
Certified Consulting Meteorologist and Certified Broadcast Meteorologist.
Thursday, September 10
10:00 AM – 11:30 AM
Hurricanes and their many global family members--- tropical storms, typhoons, and cyclones --- periodically affect tropical and near-tropical regions. Every so often, south Florida has to confront one these storms and its potpourri of related weather hazards - high winds, storm surge, heavy rainfall, and even tornadoes. In addition to the storminess itself, pre-storm planning, understanding what hurricane forecasts mean, addressing the storm's impacts in real-time, handling post-storm clean-up, and possibly dealing with insurance claims round out the myriad of hurricane dealings.
In this short program, we'll touch on my many of the above aspects of hurricanes, but only "lightly." We will, however, spin up a hurricane, so you can see various features of these storms. We'll also provide some links to various reliable web sites at which you can learn more about these storms. There will be some time following the presentation for audience directed Q & As.
H Michael "Mike" Mogil is a Certified Consulting Meteorologist who lives in Naples, the Vineyards. He teaches summer weather camps and provides community weather talks (virtual and in-person), writes magazine and blog articles about the weather, writes books about the weather, and assists insurance companies and attorneys in addressing weather aspects of insurance claims, civil lawsuits, and criminal prosecutions.
This program is brought to you by the Men's Cultural Alliance and the Jewish Federation of Greater Naples.
