Principal Alvarez
It is hard to believe, but we are already at the half-way point of the final nine-week quarter to 2018-2019. While this is the period of the school year we often refer to as "testing season," as you can see below our schedule is packed with a number of special events for our Tigers. And while many of our students are reviewing for next month's FSA & NGSSS exams, all of our teachers still continue to introduce new material which makes daily attendance so important right through year end (see table below).

Supporting our PTA and School
Even though we are now in the second half of April, we are still collecting items in support of our wonderful PTA. These items can always be turned into your teacher. (Please put in a Ziploc bag or envelope and label with your teacher's name.)
  • Box Tops for Education
  • Coke bottle cap rewards
Keep collecting the following items to help out our school:
  • Plastic bottle caps
  • Aluminum pop tabs
  • Operation Shoebox donation items
Community Support - Local Seniors
As a reminder, the Spanish Honor Society and the Safety Patrols are continuing to collect toiletries for senior citizens. Any support you can lend is greatly appreciated!
  • Personal Toiletries and Essentials
  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Body wash or bar soap
  • Nail sets
  • Disposable razors and shaving cream
  • Toothbrush, toothpaste, and mouthwash

Highlights from the Learning Garden!
Our garden is now blooming with beautiful butterflies!

The short video includes great interviews with the students!

Ms. Chulak explaining that Tildenville's Learning Garden really consists of two types: 1) square foot gardening where yields from the planted seeds are precisely measured; and 2) a garden where seeds are randomly placed. She also talked about the "butterfly tent" now in its second year (in the background behind her) where students can see the whole butterfly life cycle before they are ultimately released into nature.

Principal Alvarez talking about the students' enthusiasm and pride coming from growing the vegetables on their own. She also stressed that Tildenville's learning garden is working so well thanks in large part to the support from our community.

* Garden Club help is needed on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:15am to 8:45am. We are looking for parents to help with the children in finding gloves, getting tools, and cleaning up afterwards. Thank you!
