A political science professor of the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College won the Distinguished Teacher of the Year award during Florida Atlantic University 50th Annual Honors Convocation. Jeffrey Morton, Ph.D., professor of political science in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters, presented the keynote speech on Thursday. He also directs the Leon Charney Diplomacy Program, which offers students a unique opportunity to enhance their diplomatic skills and compete in diplomatic simulations.

Rachel Corr, associate professor of anthropology, Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College of Florida Atlantic University was honored with the Rocky Mountain Council for Latin American Studies (RMCLAS) prestigious  Judy Ewell Award for  Interwoven: Andean Lives in Colonial Ecuador’s Textile Economy .

The Judy Ewell Award honors the best publication, book or article, on women’s history or written by a woman, that began as a RMCLAS presentation.
Wilkes Honors College Spring Open House
The Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College Spring Open House was a great success! Nearly 70 students attended, and a total of 182 guests participated. Student attendees ranged from high school freshmen to seniors. During the event, three seniors committed to attending the Honors College. Corey King, Ed.D., Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management and Honors College Dean Ellen Goldey, Ph.D., kicked off the program, followed by an alumni panel moderated by Caitlin Saladrigas, a family session, and campus showcase. 
Research
Research Integrity Now Available on Jupiter Campus
Research Integrity’s Animal Research Protections Program (ARPP), which supports the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), now has an office at FAU’s Jupiter campus to better assist researchers based there. Dana Mulvaney, IACUC coordinator, is available to meet with PIs and labs on Wednesdays on the Jupiter campus in MC17 (RF), room 227.
 
On select Fridays, Kristen Ware, Ph.D., associate director of ARPP, offers ethics training for students at Jupiter and is available to meet with PIs to answer questions.

Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College Undergraduate, Tracy Tobkin was recently accepted into the 2019-2020 Elite Owl Leadership & Service Ambassador Program. The FAU Elite Owls is a premier leadership and service-learning ambassador program designed to recognize exemplary student leaders at Florida Atlantic University.

Student's Present at Psychology Conference
The Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College students did a wonderful job presenting at the meeting of the Southeastern Psychological Association in Jacksonville in March. Alex Rosas and Hannah Stamos presented their work on mindfulness and memory.
