It is hard to believe but Thanksgiving is only two weeks from today! It is also nearly time for our special family movie night event. Please plan on attending tomorrow for what I know will be fun evening for everyone.

As for this issue, we have included some important reminders such as for next Thursday's Annual Teach-In and for our music class recorders. Enjoy the rest of your week and the cooler fall weather we've had recently!

Music Class
Attention 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade parents

This year in music we will be learning about lines and spaces on the music staff, rhythm, playing technique and musicianship skills using the recorder!

Please be sure your student has the correct recorder for music (listed below). This is a required item for music class. The recorder is part of the students music grade, not participating with recorder will be reflected in the student's music grade as an "N or U". If you need any assistance with purchasing a recorder or have any questions please email me at [email protected]

Below are the links to the brand of recorder that is needed. The brand is a Yamaha Recorder YRS-20BB, YRS-20BP, YRS- 20BG or YRS-24B only. They can be purchased at other websites and music stores, however the provided brand and make should be the only one purchased to ensure a unified sound and student success. These recorders are to be brought to EVERY music class. This is for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students only. If a student has one of these recorders from the previous year, a sibling possibly used, they may use it again this year.

Students should have had their recorders by November 11, 2019.

Classroom Feature
Third grade math with Mrs. Gonzalez

Students in Mrs. Gonzalez's 3rd grade Math class worked on a mission to unlock two-step word problems! Lesson created by Ms. Kennedy, UCF Senior Intern. Pictured just below the students were to solve the word problems by rounding to the nearest "ten." Then they had to find the actual solution and compare that to their initial "ten" estimate.

Here is another two-step math problem example that Mrs. Gonzalez's students have been working on.
