December 2020 Newsletter
Dear valued member,

As I write this, we are just a few weeks away from turning our calendars to 2021. While we can't predict what the new year has in store, we do know it will bring some great opportunities from LPEA, including a new batch of scholarships for graduating seniors and a new slate of rebate programs to encourage the efficient use of clean energy. Stay tuned for more on those.

In the meantime, I want to thank everyone who participated in our 13th annual "Fill the Bucket" food drive last month. Between Durango and Pagosa Springs, we collected 6,234 pounds of food and $1,000 in cash to support local food banks. You rock!

Read on for the latest on LPEA's future power supply discussions, staying safe amidst ongoing utility scams, saving money this holiday season, and heating and cooling your home with heat pumps - plus some opportunities to give back this holiday season.

Happy Holidays!

Giving Back
The holidays are a time for giving, and there are TWO opportunities coming up for members who want to give back this season.

The Holiday Blanket & Clothing Drive (formerly the Project Merry Christmas Blanket Drive) is still a go for 2020. Four Corners Broadcasting will host a live remote broadcast from the LPEA parking lot on December 19th from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Listeners and members are encouraged to drop off clothing and blanket donations to support the La Plata Family Centers Coalition.

Until January 29th, LPEA is accepting donations to our Giving Tree Program. Members can donate to a specific account, or give a general donation to people struggling to pay their electric bill during the holiday season. Donation envelopes and drop boxes are available at the drive-through lanes of the Durango and Pagosa Springs offices.
