ANC seeking donations for children
At the Association for New Canadians, back to school is all year round as children arrive in the province with their families every month of the year.
The ANC supplies every child and youth entering the NL school system with a backpack full of essential supplies – and we can’t do it without the help of generous donors.

Pencils, crayons, exercise books, math sets, backpacks – if your child needed it, odds are good that our clients’ children will too. Contact the ANC’s Child and Youth Programs team if you would like to help out: cayp@ancnl.ca
Please drop at 144 Military Road during business hours or email information@ancnl.ca

Programs & Initiatives
The Faculty of Medicine has worked in collaboration with the Association for New Canadians for a number of years to support access to medical care for newcomers to our community and to increase the awareness of the next generation of physicians about the impact of social determinants of health on newcomers.

The Gateway Project offers medical students opportunities to work in a clinical setting in a meaningful way, taking medical histories and strengthening cross cultural healthcare skills.

The students have also worked with newcomers in the community through social activities for men, women and youth, providing information sessions on women's health, developing a culturally sensitive smoking cessation program, fundraising for specific needs like car seats and vitamins, and hosting celebrations, among other activities.

While Covid 19 has disrupted some of the opportunities, our students are ready to continue the collaboration with the ANC to create a shared learning environment and get to know our newcomer population.
Bell Let’s Talk has partnered with more than 1,100 organizations providing mental health supports and services throughout Canada, including hospitals, universities, local community service providers and other care and research organizations.

On this page you will find the most up to date information about funding available through the Bell Let’s Talk Community Fund, Bell Let’s Talk Post-Secondary Fund and the Bell Let’s Talk Diversity Fund.
