Well, we have hit Memorial Day Weekend and may see some more businesses and restaurants opening back up in the next few days. Unfortunately, we don't have any specific news to share about schools reopening in August other than CMS is planning for students to return on August 17. Hopefully, we will be able to provide families with more information surrounding the reopening of schools in the next few weeks. In addition, we are still working through the logistics of parents coming by the school on a select day to drop-off items and pick-up locker contents, yearbooks, etc. Our hope is to bring in one grade level a day before June 9 and you will be notified well in advance of the plan for how this will work following social distancing guidelines and safe traffic flow. Please know that students and parents are not permitted back in the school building so it will all be in the form of a drive by drop-off/pick-up format.
*CMS is not collecting Chromebooks at the end of school this year from those students who have these devices at home right now. However, if your Bronco will not be using their Chromebook over the summer or if you simply want to return it for safe keeping here at school so it's ready for them to use next year, we would gladly take it on the drop-off/pick-up day.
Online Instructional Update
Our online instruction will continue through June 9, yet teachers will only be doing virtual instructional sessions through the end of next week. Teachers will be posting a variety of online assignments on May 29 that will cover the last 7 days of school in June. Starting on June 1, teachers will still communicate with students through email or Canvas if they have questions. However, they will be spending the majority of their time completing end of year feedback forms and posting grades. Teachers will plan one final virtual class meeting to say goodbye for the summer during the week of June 1-5 in hopes to get most, if not all of their students back together one last time for 2019-2020.
Math 1, Math 2, Spanish Grading update
Teachers are placing a 59% in Power School for assignments that have not been completed at this point. Students have until May 29 to complete all missing assignments in order to improve their grade from where it stood on March 13. Additionally, students who score below and 80% on an assignment, may redo the assignment to receive up to an 80%. However, they will need to communicate with their teacher once they redo the assignment as Canvas, School Net, iXL, etc. as these platforms do not prompt the teacher that a student reworked the assignment a second or third time. Finally, we will be reaching out to each parent after May 29 to see what option you want to choose for your student's S2 (Semester 2) grade. Remember, students can only improve on what their grade was as of March 13 so doing all of the assignments will be critical if they want that grade to improve.

Virtual Performances
Bailey Middle School Presents
Virtual Performances of:
Push and Pull
by Terry Gabbard
and
Antony and Cleopatra by William Shakespeare, adapted by Emily Klingman, the Cast, and the Crew to 45 minutes
Push and Pull is abou
t
Joel Pulley, a struggling comic book artist, that has his narrow world turned upside down when an over-eager stray dog shows up at his door... repeatedly! This excitable canine is unwavering in his pursuit to be Joel's best friend.
Soon Push pushes Joel's life in fresh directions. Told through dialogue and the comic visual art Joel creates, this one-act is both playful and poignant. It shows us the life of a dog, and the human lives the dog helps to shape into a family.
Performances of Push and Pull will be streamed virtually on May 26th and 29th at 7PM (links coming soon!)
ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA
Antony and Cleopatra
is about the famous couple, Mark Antony and Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt, their love, and their end.
Unlike Romeo and Juliet, war, jealousy, and ambition are the characters' downfall. In our version, they are kids playing out the story of
Antony and Cleopatra.
This has allowed our actors and techies to explore Shakespeare in a new way. Gone are the aloof and formal Shakespearean characters and in their place are kids with everyday wants and needs.
Performance of Antony and Cleopatra will be streamed virtually on May 27th and 29th at 7PM
