Dear Parents and Guardians,
We have had a wonderful few days with your sons during our first week of school. The energy has been positive and the school spirit is off the charts. Students have met with all their teachers and we had our first spirit rally today.
We are all thrilled to be on campus together safely and we anticipate this year being one of our best yet. This is the first edition of Spotlight on Serra, our weekly e-newsletter, which is full of important announcements. I look forward to seeing Class of 2024 parents at the Sophomore Welcome Event on Friday.

Serra Padres Experience First All-School Spirit Rally Today |
Serra Padres came out in droves today in the first rally on the Serra campus in nearly two years. Students were divided in the stands according to their house designation. Serra's house system is a spirit competition among the student body. Various house challenges display the spirit and bring glory to their houses by winning the coveted spirit trophy.
Each house, named Compassion, Integrity, Inclusion, and Respect, is a team. Each week there will be different competitions that test a Padre's courage, wisdom, artistic or athletic ability. Each competition will award points to the house. At the end of the school year, the spirit trophy will be awarded and a reward will be determined.
Bragging rights to the spirit trophy were handed to Inclusion today. Check out the video below that was shown to students prior to today's rally. Video Commissioner Calvin Qian '22 created this amazing video. Go Padres!

Virtual Back to School Night Scheduled for August 26
Back to School Night will be held on Thursday, August 26, from 6:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. This will be a virtual event again this year. Teachers will conduct live presentations for parents over Zoom for each of their classes. Zoom links are available through the PCR Parent Portal.
Last year, parents appreciated the convenience of being able to attend this event from home and we had extremely high attendance as a result. More details will be sent out early next week.

Frosh, Sophomore Events Friday
This Friday, Serra students can participate in a Tri-School event for freshmen where they can meet the ladies from Mercy Burlingame and Notre Dame Belmont. Students will be able to eat a light dinner, swim or just visit and meet other Tri-School students. The event is this Friday, August 20 from 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m. on the Serra Pool deck. There is no need to register for this event and no tickets are needed. Students must bring their student ID card.
Due to the pandemic, sophomores could not participate in the Frosh Splash last year, so they will enjoy the Tri-School Sophomore Jaws Night. Sophomores from Serra, Mercy and Notre Dame will be able to watch Jaws poolside or in the pool, eat dinner and visit with each other. The event will take place this Friday, August 20 from 7:30 p.m.-9 p.m. on the Serra Pool deck. There is no need to register for this event and no tickets are needed. Students must bring their student ID card.
Sophomore parents are invited to a welcome reception during the time their sons are enjoying the Jaws event, from 7:30 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Good news! The "My Payment Plus Accounts" from Flik Independent School Dining Service is now functioning. All parents are encouraged to upload funds directly onto their student's Flik My Payment Plus Account. You may go to the JSHS Website, point to "QUICKLINKS" and click on Flik School Dining.

Serra Golf Classic September 16- All Are Welcome to Play! |
Mark your calendars for Thursday, September 16 for our 33rd Annual Serra Golf Classic, which will be held on the Old Course at the picturesque Half Moon Bay Golf Links. This is your chance to be part of this wonderful community event, which is sure to sell out! So gather your former classmates, friends, parents from your son's class or golf as a family and join us for a day of fun on the links!

Alumni Legacy Mass Scheduled for September 3 - RSVP Today! |
Calling all alumni! Please join us on Friday, September 3 for our annual Alumni Legacy Mass.
We will gather at Mary's Courtyard for a morning Mass and breakfast reception. Our new chaplain, Father Nicholas Case, will welcome us all for Mass beginning at 7:30 a.m.
A reception and group photo will take place directly after Mass. We look forward to celebrating our generations of Padres!

Join Serra's Parent Clubs, Registration Ongoing |
It’s not too late to join the Serra Mothers’ and Fathers’ Clubs for the 2021-2022 school year. The early bird registration has been extended through Sunday, August 22.
The parent clubs meet monthly and serve as a great way to meet other parents and be an active member of the Serra community.
